I was left very disappointed by the MtG USA rework. A lot of the alt-history feels extremely contrived. A Second Civil War in 1930s United States, especially when the worst of the Great Depression has already passed, exists only for meme enthusiasts or as an answer for Kaiserreich's equally-contrived American Civil War. Not only that, but the new Senate and House mechanics do not accurately reflect the partisan mindset of Republican and Democratic congresspeople and can essentially be totally ignored, leading to an abundance of "I am the Senate" reposts across the HOI4 community. The event spam from this mechanic is annoying as well, once you've gone through the focuses that require a certain percentage of the House/Senate.
Not only that, but I feel the alt-history is honestly a big disservice to both Roosevelt and Alf Landon. Roosevelt can magically remove the racial segregation laws pervasive in the United States, but that somehow turns the country into a communist state and triggers a neo-Confederate civil war. Likewise, Alf Landon, a moderate Republican, can snap his fingers and bring back the gold standard that was removed only 3-4 years prior, and then goes "lol imma fascist now" and starts making the country more racist for no reason. These paths only serve to reinforce modern stereotypes about the Democrat and Republican parties that are not rooted in historical reality at all.
The Civil War itself is also totally wack once you get to it. In the game I played as communist USA, the Confederate States were ruled by a generic leader instead of someone like Pelley, Lindbergh, a junta of anti-communist American generals, or some coalition of Southern governors. On that note, if you go communist, staunchly anti-communist generals like MacArthur and Patton stay loyal to the communist regime which makes no sense. There's also some random monarchist "unaligned states of America" hanging around that only serves to prevent either side from being overpowered, which is also nonsensical.
The only alt-history path I see as plausible is an authoritarian-left one where Roosevelt goes forward with the Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937 that would essentially make his agenda the law of the land. He was already one of the most authoritarian Presidents in American history, and whether this would turn the nation "communist" or not really depends on your definitions of communism. Either way, this path would likely result in organized resistance to Roosevelt's power-grab, and would lead to the only somewhat-logical American civil war. Roosevelt blew the Republican candidates out of the water as far as elections go in this period, so I don't really think there should be a conservative focus tree for the United States, but if there was one, fascism is definitely out of the question.
To address what OP has written, Paradox is not going to add swastikas into this game. Germany may have lifted some laws on that but it's a lot easier to keep an already controversial game less controversial when there is no reason to stoke any fires. Sadly, I highly doubt there will be an American rework of any kind in the next few years since the devs seem to want to focus on every nation that hasn't been reworked yet before going back to those that already were reworked.
