So, as the US, i have to questions. I'm a guy who loves to build navies, and as the US, my idea was making a modern 1944 level navy. I got two questions, should i bother building Civilian Factories as the US? or just jump straight for Dockyards.

which leads me to my second question, Should i then take Concentrated Industry research? I'm a fan of playing Germany, so i usually go for the Dispersed Industry. Which one is the best road to 10 Carrier TaskForces?

First, keep track of your country effects. I haven't played the US in a while but your ability to produce any factories other than naval factories is severely nerfed by the Great Depression early on IIRC. I usually build to a total of 60 dockyards to produce 4 lines of ships simultaneously, then focus on infrastructure, AA, RADAR, ports, airfields, forts, and the like on my pacific islands.

Second, the balance of the two changes with every patch. If you're looking to min-max I'm not sure of the current consensus of the number crunchers but as the USA you'll be producing things in such insane quantities regardless that it won't matter. I usually go concentrated for anyone but Germany FWIW, and even then I've never been strat bombed anywhere close to historically by the Allies.

The US has large debuffs to civillion and military factory construction, but none to dockyards so it's best to start building dockyards. Concentrated used to be the best choice by far but with the latest patch dispersed is better now.

That's a subjective opinion; factory vulernerability is actually completely and totally worthless for USA. An extra 25% production output though? Very useful.

USA is not Germany, they shouldn't be trying to produce the latest and greatest constantly, quantity suits them much better.

With the changes to construction and infrastructure, you might be better off popping some infrastructure in provinces where you know you will be building at least 5 new factories over time first. Every additional 10% of infrastructure reduces construction time for factories that much, and the time costs pay off after 4 factories. You do have to think ahead a little about where the factories limits will be in provinces after a couple of bumps from Industry techs.

As others noted, right now there is no nerf on building NIC from your Isolation laws, so most people do build NIC at first with the USA and can build a nice navy. Just be aware that currently there is not much challenge in vanilla HOI4 from enemy navies for an Allied USA. Germany won't build much of one, it is almost guaranteed that the Kriegsmarine will be dead by the time the USA joins the war. Japan and Italy are really handicapped by the poor basic naval construction priorities, they don't build enough screens and don't focus enough on building NIC. All of them are hammered by the new construction rules on lack of resources, those have badly unbalanced the ai Axis. And subs are so nerfed as to be no threat when used by the ai. Some mods like Expert AI 2.0 and Vanilla+ vastly improve the production choices of the ai.

The choice now between Concentrated and Dispersed Industry boils down to this question. Are you going to set up production lines that will not change or be shifted? If so, then Concentrated is fine because you get an extra 5% production. But if you will shifting your factories around from production to production item or even to a lot of variants, then go Dispersed. The penalty to MIC efficiency for switching is a killer in Concentrated. It takes so long to build back efficiency that the production loss is hard to overcome even with the extra 5% production Concentrated gives. IMHO Concentrated was nerfed too much in 1.3.3 (from a 10% diff to 5% and worse efficiency penalties), it isn't really much of a choice for many nations now to go Dispersed.
