Yes, and the Forum avatars were all a joke, and etc. It's clear that this game's ambition was scaled back dramatically.
(And Belgium is in the coding but not in game? :O)
It's quite clear they had larger goals with this.

It wasn't much of a war. The Americans ranked somewhere below girl scouts armed with magic markers in fighting ability. After an entire year of trying to invade Canada, they managed to hold onto an area the size of a city block.
They had such wonderful ideas as democratically voting for your combat leaders. Announcing that the militia (reserves) will not be partaking in the invasion over the Niagra *after* the regulars have started. And my favourite, surrendering the entire territory of Michigan and Detroit over the thought that they might have to fight Indians with the British.
Of course, sending in the "crack" troops (the boys from Kentucky) into Canada just before winter clad in only those god-awful red cotton shirts wasn't a brilliant move either.
Seriously, there just isn't very much movement, and a comic farce of an invasion on the part of the americans to really justify making a game of it.
what original company?
and what larger goals could a developer have with a game set in the Napoleonic Wars other than to set it in the Napoleonic Wars?
what the op found is probably just a joke. Paradox anticipated that users would eventually go looking for hints.
"America is a silly place, let's not go there." Speculation: solved i guess.
Amerika ist ein verrücktes Land, lasst uns dort auf keinen Fall hingehen! = America is a crazy country, let us go there!
Let's speculations redouble!
Sorry bud, but we still really just a colony, and would best be represented as a Red blob under British management in North America. Not another Aztec Invasion. That would suck.
Yeah, unfortunately. I hope people will mod this, because otherwise I won't be able to be my precious Canada or Haiti.![]()

I tend to buy that the Canadian identity as it is now didn't really begin to form until after the Statute of Westminister, earliest maybe was the Battle of Vimy Ridge, but anything before that I tend to think of as Patriotic nonsense that the current Conservative government has been trying to shove down our throats the last few years. [Granted we've enjoyed it on the side]
[Maybe earlier than that, but the War of 1812 was a spat between the USA and Great Britain, not the US and Canada. Although when the British tended to favour the Americans over the colonials that tended to ruffle feathers from time to time, like the Gold Rushes in the North.]
Not going to deny the contributions of the militiamen under Brock's command, but I think its been propped up to ridiculous proportions.
Personally I rather enjoy the focus on Europe.
Oddly enough its largely thanks to America that Canada formed their own identity and country.
I would like to see something happening in South America though, if I recall, a lot of revolutions happened. [My knowledge of South American history is fuzzy]
I'm also pretty sure he needed money for his wars, since fighting Europe is pretty damn expensive.Haiti's revolution had Napoleon give up his North American empire so he sold it to the Americans. Thus, Haiti gave America Louisiana.![]()
[There has been a large push to make this war a larger part of the Canadian identity, just some background information]
I'm calling it right now: It's for the upcoming Sunset Invasion-esque American liberation of Europe DLC. Kind of like D-Day, but then around 230 years earlier.
It does suck that Canadians are falling for the conservative government's propaganda but the plebs tend to prefer it to actual history. While we fund big events about the war of 1812 with expensive tv ads, we defund the national library and other institutions who may disagree with Harper. How very sad/vexing.
The War of 1812 is nice because everyone can say they won.
