You mean I'll eventually be able to play that newly patriotized part of Canadian history? The War of 1812?
However, how would one keep Brock in Canada since you can move generals around the world in a second.

[There has been a large push to make this war a larger part of the Canadian identity, just some background information]

Brock and Tecumseh are in the British Leaders file too.

I suspect they were going to add 1812 and the American Theater in but changed their mind.

Actually they were going to, they had seperate boxes for the American Theater but cut them out in the end because it didn't flow well or something like that.

It wasn't much of a war. The Americans ranked somewhere below girl scouts armed with magic markers in fighting ability. After an entire year of trying to invade Canada, they managed to hold onto an area the size of a city block.

They had such wonderful ideas as democratically voting for your combat leaders. Announcing that the militia (reserves) will not be partaking in the invasion over the Niagra *after* the regulars have started. And my favourite, surrendering the entire territory of Michigan and Detroit over the thought that they might have to fight Indians with the British.

Of course, sending in the "crack" troops (the boys from Kentucky) into Canada just before winter clad in only those god-awful red cotton shirts wasn't a brilliant move either.

Seriously, there just isn't very much movement, and a comic farce of an invasion on the part of the americans to really justify making a game of it.

And yet, the US did fairly well at sea, against the great naval power of the time.

But I personally appreciate the Monty Python reference.

Everyone knows the War of 1812 doesn't get good until after the Brits burn down Washington. We got a national anthem and a president from that last bit :p

I'm pretty sure the original company had larger goals for the game before it became a Paradox game. It's probably just left over data. Or an easter egg, now that I see the "America is a silly place..."

And they managed all that while Britain was focusing on a certain Frenchman abroad. Nice.

There should still be american ships that show up and fight a bit. Maybe sinking a few british and barbary vessels. Then go home.

Not another Aztec Invasion. That would suck. :(

It's clear that this game's ambition was scaled back dramatically.

Yeah, unfortunately. I hope people will mod this, because otherwise I won't be able to be my precious Canada or Haiti. :(

what original company?

and what larger goals could a developer have with a game set in the Napoleonic Wars other than to set it in the Napoleonic Wars?

what the op found is probably just a joke. Paradox anticipated that users would eventually go looking for hints.
