I'm playing as the USA and have defeated the south and ended the war. But slavery has not ended and the slaves are revolting all over the place in the south.

I checked the events and it looks like Lincoln was supposed to be assasinated and then that would trigger the reconstruction, but the Lincoln event didn't trigger, and now it's 1866 and the slaves are pissed off.

I tried to manually trigger both event 14181 and event 14182 but neither one would work. Nothing happened when I typed event 14181 and when I typed event 14182 it said "event 14181 hasn't occured".

Suggestions? Anyone else run into this problem? :(

I asked this same question a while ago. You have to let the war dag on a little- until the events fire in 1864. But if you leave the south alone until then they will beat you. So with about 20 divisions I took virginia, north carolina, tennessee, and the trans-mississippi right at the start and held that until the time came. When you control Richmond, Atlanta, Charleston SC and New Orleans the countrymen again event fires. After that happens, press f12 and enter "event 14182" and you get an error message (mine says country "csa does not exist" three times) then enter event 14207 as many times as you need to to get the event to fire. If it doesnt try 14182 again and then 14207 some more. I had to enter it about five times i think, but eventually it works.
Hope this helps. :) Let me know what happens.

the safest way to drag it out is to not declare war on the CSA and leave them as the single province (virginia is it?). This gives you a -200 prestige hit, but its minor considering how much you get back when u annex the CSA and the benefits of reconstruction. Then when it is close to the lincoln assasination date, delcare war, overrun them, and presto.

You could always run around in the save file. Victoria>scenarios>save games should be the right path. After finding your country's section (find "tag = USA") find "slaves = yes". Once you've done that, write no in place of yes; reload and you'll find nary a slave any where in union.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the help everyone! I think I'll try the save game way, I don't really want to bother with the war again.

Wouldn't it be even better to load a savegame that you made right when the war was over into the editor, go to the place with the lost of event numbers that have already fired, and just add the event ID of the "Lincoln assassinated" event? That way, you wouldn't have to bother with a mock-up CSA in South Carolina for four friggin years or F12.

If all goes according to plan, you can win the war as early as you like and then wait for the reconstruction events, which should fire normally since the game thinks the Lincoln assassinated event has already occured, even though it's only 1862 or so.

We've fix this in the VIP mod. Regardless of Uncle Abe dying or not, at the end of the ACW, the Reconstruction event fires.

Civ War in VIP

Theodotus1 said:
Now all we need to fix in VIP is circumstances when for some reason the ACW does not take place.

YES! Recently completed the 3rd version of VIP and have not had the ACW fire off yet. One time got into a long war in Canada that lasted 10 years, another time Mexico kept DOWing me in late 1850's, 3rd time the Republicans lost the election (51% Democrats, 48% Republicans, 1% free soil party?)

Also, found a problem with the "buy cuba" event - when I bought it the Spanish did not get pissed off, and it cost $zip, then Ostend manifesto pops up (even though I already annexed Cuba and made it a state).

I just want to see the ACW before I die...
