If TRP is the same as vanilla DD in that a-bombs won't be produced until the reactor size is 6 there seems to be a problem. The reactor size 6 can't be reached until the Pre Nuclear Power Production tech is completed and it has a date of 1948. Maybe I'm missing something here, but it looks to me like the US isn't going to have the a-bomb until about 3 years after it did historically. Can anyone shed a little light on this situation for me. Thanks.

I checked the event and tech files. In any case, the tech Nuclear Waste Bomb gives you a max reactor size of 6, so that should be fixed then.

Of course the problem (as far as I see it), is that the event that makes the nuclear weapons researchable (event 8011), is triggered when the nation has researched technology 5540, or Nuclear Power Production, instead of tech 5610, Production of Nuclear-Weapons Warhead. Or in other words, you need to research a year 1951 tech to get nukes instead of a year 1945 one. Which might be a bug...

I kept checking trough the event and tech files. I'm just saying that I think the plan was to keep the nukes out of play until the 50's. If you want to edit like I did, you need to change "required = 5540" to "required = 5610" in addition to what I mention in the previous post.

Can someone from the team tell is if this stuff is intentional or not? I didn't read trough the whole TRP feedback thread, so if this is there... then it is.

Thanks very much for your reply and for taking the time to check into this situation. It appears to me that something is definitely out of whack with the a-bomb availability here. Maybe someone from the actual TRP team will read your posts and comment.

It looks like I may have spoken too soon. It appears that, although the pre-nuclear power tech (1948) makes the 6th nuclear reactor available, that the Productionsite Nucelarweapons tech (1945), even though it makes only the 5th nuclear reactor available, also introduces the chance that the Nuclear Waste Bomb tech may become available for researching. I assume that having 6 reactors, as opposed to 5, increases the chances of being presented with the chance of researching Nuclear Waste Bomb. I have no idea what the relative probabilities are, but it seems logical that a player has to get at least a little lucky to get an a-bomb in '45 (with only 5 reactors). But at least there's some possibility.

Also, as far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to make any difference in the game whether the nuclear weapons researchable (event 8011), is triggered by tech 5540 or 5610. I ran the game both ways and it didn't seem to make any difference. That seems a little strange to me, but what do I know.

Thanks again for your replies.

Have you checked if USA AI is building reactors? Even with technology, if you don't build them, you can't produce A-bombs.

Yes. There are 5 fully constructed in place. I guess I just have to wait for the fickle finger of fate to let me research the nuclear waste bomb tech.

Oh, I believed you were talking about AI-controlled USA.
