USA AAR. Isolationist but ready.

June 26 1943

WJ day, we have finally defeated the Japanese Empire and have started to disband our war time force. It is now time to plan our peace time military. We will soon have the ability to build nuclear CV, CA BB and Subs, as well as jet fighters. We are also making progress on building an advanced medium tank and have turboject bomber ability.

When avalable we will do the following

Build 6 Nuclear Super Heavy Carriers and team them with 12 naval bombers, 6 fighters, and either 6 nuclear CA or DD as escorts. We will also have 2 teams each of 12 sub and DD units.

For land forces we will have marine divisons located at Wake, Hawaii and Panama, and 4 Mech units on the contenental US. We will also have 1 Tank division and one Airborne unit with planes to carry them

For ground based air we will have 3 tac bomber, 3 strat bombers 6 fighter and 12 naval bomber units.


[Note, the stupid game will only let me liberate Korea. I am stuck with half of China, Half of Siam, French indochina and Japan. This really screws up my post war plans, and I am pissed off. I will just ignore them and pretend they have been returned as soon as practiable and leave them without defence. I don't think there are any events to draw me into another conflict, its gamy, but it is a game.]
 
July 26 1943

The Axis have been cleared out of North Africa, the Allies had another landing fail in southern France.

The Soviet Union now occupy all of Finland except for a narrow coastal region from Helsinki eastwards to the border of Leningrad.

The Germans have managed to hold the Soviet Union along the Austrian front, which has not moved from the last report.

In Poland however the Soviets have mad major gains, having reached the Oder river along its Northern and Southern reaches. Germany has only once province left tot he east of th Oder. Berlin is very close to the front lines.

The German army has grown slightly, but they have started resorted to so called Volksstrum divisions of old men and young boys, these units now make up 31 of 139 Divisions

In the air the Germans are now outnumbered in fighters and in total aircraft by both the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom seperatly.

Italy is down to 53 Divisions mostly due to loses in North Africa, and 3 air units.

Combined the Axis have been able to maintain a fleet of 15 to 20 submarines.


[Maybe I am a land guy, but I've found Europe more interesting the my own caimpaign ;), now there is peace, I can keep an eye on it. I am waiting for the Far east nations to start making demands on me, so I can return some of those lands I took.
 
Oct 13 1943


The UK is counterattacking an Italain bridgehead in Benghazi in Eastern Lybia. The UK has made a landing in South France, but has yet to establish a beachhead.

Finland is still holding on, and joined Axis.

As of today Yugoslavia joined the Axis, the Soviets have left their borders with Yugoslavia nearly undefended, with quick action this could be a serious turn onthe Austrian front which has so far remained stable. The Russians have launched several 1 division attacks into Yugoslavia which are heavily outnumbered.

On the Berlin front, the Soviets are making slow but steady advances. They have passed the Oder on the south, and are now attacking with 30 divisions, 20 German defenders.
 
Dec 14 1943

Yugoslavia has fallen to the Soviet Union. The attack on Berlin also failed. The Germans took the oppurtinity to drive a short distance into central Austra but could not make further progress in the face of heavy resistance.

The Germans now have 202 Divisions, 87 of them Volkstrum. Their airforce is taking a beating and is down to only 13 dive bomber units.

The Soviets now have over 400 divisions, including almost 100 Mech divisions.

Jan 21 1944

Persia has entered the way on the side of the Axis.
[looks like a repeat of the iran ira war, except with 7 Canadian Divisions in pakistan and the Soviets up north.]

An Allied landing in Southern France is making some progress having taken most of the old French coastline from the Spanish border to near the Italain border. They have also maneged to succesfully move in towards to center.

All Soviet fronts are stable.

March 25th Czechoslovika has joined the Axis.
Italy has retaken Rhodes
The Landings in France have been reduced to a beachhead
The Eastern Front is still stable but that should change soon
The Soviet Union has made strong advances into Northern Iran, while Iran too over the border territory of Pakistan which was undefended.

The Germans are now up to 270 Divisions including 144 Volkstrum. The Russians have 342 Divisions

April 28th 1944

Argentina Joins the Axis. [What the hell is going on here, Berlin almost falls and everyone is jumping in queue to join the losers]

The eastern Half of Czechoslovia has been overrun. The Soviets have also made a daring dash to across Venezia and Milan to Genoa, the Germans are currently counterattacking in Venezia
After defeating several weak attacks on Berlin, the Germans have attacked across the northern Oder river taken Stettin.

The Germans have 321 divisions including 190 Volksstrum. The Russians have about 430 divisions.

The Allied landings have held the beachhead at Marseilles and have reached the Swiss border.

No Further changes, on other fronts.

July 19th 1944

Finland still holds
Czechoslovika has fallen.
The Eastern front in Austria is back to its usual place, and the Soviets retook Stettin, and at one point had Rostok, thus having flanked Berlin from the North as well as the South.

The Soviet throust into Italy was cut off by a German counterattack at Venezia, but the Soviets reestablished the land link. North of Bolongia, the Italains only hold on to Toulon in former south east France. The Germans now face the Russians though the Czech borders, central Austra and the old Italian Austran border. The Soviets have also moved intot he French Swiss border region.

The Allies are still stuck at Marseilles having had a previous attack north surrounded and destroyed.

On the Iran TOE, the Soviets have almost reached the Persian Gulf along the Iraq Border. The Iranians have drivin further along the Pakistan Afgan border, but a counter attack at Karachi by some Iraq units stationed in Pakistan theatens to cut off this thrust.
The Germans have 276 Volkstrum out of 398 Divisions with 29 mech and 7 tank divisions.
The Soviets have Over 470 divisions 118 mech 31 moterized 8 armoured and over 300 infantry.

The axis are a near non factor in the air, the germans having only 12 dive bomber units left, the Italians with 3 fighter and 1 bomber unit left.
They are also being kept to under 15 subs combined.


July 24th 1944

The Republican Spanish have joined the Comintern. This puts the German position in grave difficulty, the Spanish have 26 divisions ready at the border. They have a total of 89 divisions, half of which are similar in quality to the volkstrum. They also bring in 12 fighter units and 8 bomber units. The quality of these forces might not be up to the German or even Italian level, but the French border is lightly held and this presents antoher diversion the Germans unlike the Soviets can ill afford.

Berlin Falls.

After A Soviet drive along the Baltic coast to the North Sea port of Hamburg, the Germans in a massive assult managed to occupy Berlin after several failed attempts sometimes numbering over 40 divisions. The Soviets have are driving south from Hamburg taking Hanover, and are close to meeting up with their troops driving from Austria almost surrounding areas of German to the west of Berlin.

The Austrian front has broken open also. Of Austra, Germany only holds the border with Switzerland. They have managed to advance westword frmo the old Czech border. Munich changed hands and now is German.

In Italy, a strong Soviet drive has taken Rome. Soviet troops in Bari have met up with an Allied Bridgehead on the "heel" of the Italian boot. Naples is under a 12 division assult by the SU, defended by 6 Italian units.

The Spanish have been mostly inactive on the ground, they managed to beat off a very weak German attack in the north.

In France, the Allies have advances west to Nimes with Soviet help.
The Soviets have a parrell thrust to the north also going west to Lyon.

Northern Iran including the capital is in Soviet hands. The Iranians have been drivin out of Pakistan by Allied forces. 3 Canadian divisions are facing off vs 3 Iranian divisions in Bandar addas in the extreme south east of Iran.

The Recent fighting has been hard on the Axis, they can't make up their losses
The Germans have 268 Divisions left out of almost 400, 190 Volksstrum out of 276 on the last report. 14 mech and 4 armoured compared to 29 and 7 just three months ago.
Losses of a third overall and half among the mech and tank units. The Soviet union has 490 Divisions.
 
Dec 28th 1944

Iran Falls with the Soviets taking all except for the extreme south east regions which went to the British.

In Italy, the entire mainland has been taken. UK landings secrued the "heel" and Sicily, as well as retaking Rhodes, the Soviets hold the rest. All Italy has is some desert in central Lybia, Sardinia and Malta. There are no ground units left and only a small fleet in Malta.

Due to Russian indifference, the Finnish still hold out.

Spain resisted another German advance to the north defeating with with overwhelming force. They are also currently attacking a 13 division german force along the mediteranian sea with 1.5 to 1 odds.

The Soviets have made massive advances into Germany and France. They have reached the Rhine except for bits of the Neatherlans, and the Black Forest region just north of Swizterland. Almost all of pre war Germany has been taken.
In France, the Germans are counterattacking a norther thrust by the soviets. Not much progress has been made on this front.

The Germans are down to 168 divisions, 119 being Volkstrum, with only 1 tank unit and 9 mech. Soviet losses have also been heavy, they are down 50 divisions from the last count.
 
April 29th 1945

Germany falls.

The soviets made a strong advance up from southern france. Their efforts westword via Germany were less successfull, the last two territories the Germans held were Essen, recaptured across the Rhine by the Germans and the Saar region just to the west of the Rhine. The Spanish lost the Northern Bilbao region but recaputred it.

A last minute assult on Dieppe [Lille] by a Canadian army was defeated just before the Soviets got there, about 8 divisions faced 50 German units.

Russian now controls all of eastern Europe except for Greece, and Albania. They control all of Germany, Austria, most of mainland Italy except for the heel, all but the southeast of Iran, all of France, including Toulon, except for a small border region that Spain won, and the Nimes, Marsielles region owned by France. They also in Annexing Italy took possession of Lybia.

The war still goes on, there is Finland and Argentina to defeat. The Russians have made a small advance from Leningrad, Helsinki is underattack, their last 10 divisions can't hold out much longer.

We have managed to maintain our neutrality so far, but our diplomates have a close eye on the situation.
We have 12 ICBM missles and can arm 11 of them at the moment [tritium bombs] we do not have much reason to fear even a soviet Europe.
 
May 2 1945

In an act of extreme charity, while Soviet troops were moving through the outskirts of Helsinki itself, the Soviet Union gave them a most generous peace treaty, and accepted only the border regions they first asked for. We are boggled, perhaps there is hope for the rest of Europe.
The Allies are still at war with Finland. Our Diplomats are hard at work to bring a peacefull solution to both this war and the Agentina situation, but we don't expect much.

We have just found out that Siam had left the alliance and is now at war with the Allies.

The UK managed after many failed attempts to land 8 divisions in Mar del Plata, just south of the Argantine capital.

UNless something happens to the US I am not going to make any more posts.

Brazil just joined Bolivia... that has reached the end of any credibility, although all of the other Axis joiners were also rather unbelieavable.
 
Pretty screwed up game you got, the Soviet army is huge. Just for the record, they probably haven't taken much casualties. The divisions that have "disappeared" are mos likely being strategically redeployed.
Have you got any screenies? Will there be a Cold War?
 
I should of went with screen shots, if I do another one, I will. It was way too much typing.

I went into with with the idea of a minimal US involvement, and that is what I got.
They must of taken some causuilties from damage at the very least as they still had a lot of grinding to do, and they did have for example multiple 30 and 40 division attacks on Berlin alone beaten off, I figure they must of lost a good 500 to 1000 manpower on failed attempts to take over Berlin.

I on the other hand might of lost 500 to 1000 total, I had a few divisions grinded out in failed attacks but not much otherwise.

As of the end of the game, the UK took over Brazil, Argentin and Boliva, and were were advancing north of Bangkok in Saim.

Looks like cold war, I got 13 nukes, 12 ICBMs in each of attu, atka [the near and far alaska islands] Maine, and the central US. I can reach just about everywhere except for parts of southern Africa.

India went independent.
I was also able to send off French Indochina to a now neutral VIchy French, but am still stuck with China Japan and parts of Siam. Next time I will just puppet.


I got about almost 5K manpower, and if the game had extra techs, I would be pushing mid to late 60's tech by now if not further. The US and UK are the only two signifcant naval powers.

How does one do a screen shot.

It really would of made the AAR much much easier to understand, as well as report.
 
You take a screenshot by pressing F11. The screenshot is then saved in your HoI folder, its name is something like Screenshot00.bmp. Open the picture in MS Paint (or any other similar program), then save it as jpeg.
Then you'll have to find a site that let's you host images. http://photobucket.com is one, though I don't know how good it is. When you have uploaded your image, copy its address, and put it in IMG tags.
