Bf 109 variants was developed all way into 1944-45 and is maybe the most successful fighter design in history, during its lifetime it was in HOI4 terms a 1936 tech fighter a 1940 tech fighter and a 1944 tech fighter comparable to the latest designs.
That's variants of a single plane. It's not like the Americans weren't developing multiple variants of their own much more numerous designs at the same time, too.

The fact stands, the US developed a number of different planes (for ground combat, carrier operations, close support etc) in the same timeframe Germans developed considerably fewer of them. And that's only one area of R&D. You need more research slots in order to pull this off in the game, simple as that.

yes true, the Americans designed amazing planes like the Airacomet, while getting the jet engines as a gift from the Brits and not being bombed day and night. Amazing work they did there

The US doesn't even have double the industry of Germany, so they are definitely ahistorically nerfed.

Is it scientist haven that gives them the second additional slot?

Anyone know if you could recruit Einstein? I know he didn't really do anything irl but it would be cool to have the opportunity to set him as an advisor.

I'm guessing Henry Ford(captain of industry?), Robert Oppenheimer(nuclear theorist?), et al. will be included, is there a list of advisors for countries on the wiki or anywhere yet?

There should be either a u.s. national focus for the USO, which boosts morale and maybe speeds up training time due to boosting voluntary recruitment, and something due to the money they raised(there was a 3 way baseball game between the yankees, giants, and dodgers in 44 that raised over 56,000,000 dollars alone, which is billions in today's money). Or a celebrity advisor (actor Jimmy Stewart was a Brigadier General and actually flew combat missions, Audie Murphy won the Medal of Honor and was the highest awarded soldier in America, and became an actor due to being featured on life magazine) etc. I'm looking forward to making mods A LOT... I have atleast 20 ideas ranging from easy switches to complex things that I may not be able to do on my own(I really want to edit the battle planner, being able to give every plan like 3 separate phases that you draw out and can activate them all at once, or one at a time in order as you see fit). But I've strolled pretty far off topic and am starting to ramble sooo...here's mein "fur"her

I think it's good that some nations are better at different things thanks to the national focus trees. So it's not too much all the same between nations. Hopefully we'll see more unique national focus trees in the future.

combat proven German designs after 42? 190D, Me 410, Do 335, Me 262, Me 163, He 219, Hs 129, Arado 234
I'm sorry but if we have to include a plane with production run of 37, and failures like Me 163 and Hs 129 as 'combat proven' aircrafts... just to arrive at 8 names total, then such scraping the barrel kinda makes my point, doesn't it ;/

(oh and Arado 234 was a bomber, not a fighter. putting a cannon on it was more of a desperation than anything)

numerous battle-proven successful after 42 is an evil trick of yours to demand that when the war was already lost at that point

does not change that the FW Ta 152 is the best Fighter Plane used in WW2
and the BF 109 the most successful
Am not trying to deny here Germany had good designs during WW2, they did. Some of them were more than good.

What i'm getting at is, the overall volume of such successful designs produced is considerably smaller than what the US came up with in the same time. That's what the extra research slots are for -- they primarily control the quantity, not quality (quality of design between the countries in the game is roughly equal) People who get upset that means the US will outpace "them" miss this and along with it the overall point, imo.

*shrug*

The US had the resources to do damn near anything they wanted. They devoted almost as much resources to the Manhattan Project as some other countries did to their entire war effort. From a historical perspective it makes some sense.

Ah yes the Manhattan Project...

"The German V-weapons (V-1 and V-2) cost the equivalent of around USD $40 billion (2015 dollars), which was 50 percent more than the Manhattan Project that produced the atomic bomb."

The US should not have a sixth slot, they have the manhatten project and all that. Either all majors should get six, the US and the soviets should both get to six, or any country that has like 300 factories or something should be able to get six. Or leave it at five...

Industrial capacity and research are not exactly the same.

USA were both the prime industrial powerhouse and a giant scientific hub. As the 6th slot is added by "scientist haven", it means they also got boosted by foreign minds.

The totalitarian states may also have good scientists, but on the long run their political system hinder progress. Science need ideas confrontation, while these states tend towards an "official science" (Lyssenko in USSR) and repress dissident (Germany not using some of the best minds for political/racial reasons).

I see that, but massive resources tend to help. Soviet research wasn't necessarily worse than frances. But the tech sharing focus for some minors requires a number of factories to get the fifth research slot.

And if the war goes historical then you can't get the sixth slot until early 1943. You can't start the first focus in the branch until USA are at war (assuming Dec 1941 with Japan), then there are six focuses you must complete taking 420 days. Note there are two AND pre-requisites (solid lines), there are no ORs (dotted lines). Only the Special Forces is optional.

How many tech cost reductions do USA have, like UK have a massive amount of these which is probably worth alot more then a single research slot.

Two A-bombs won the war, so this beats 35 000 V1 and 4000 V2 all the way.

PS Conan is a barbarian, not a barbairan.
We are talking about resources... americans got all british secrets for free, plus so many scientists from all over the world. Imagine if they actually had to fight a real war on their doorstep (like Germany/France/USSR) if they were invaded by Canada or Mexico or something (ok thats difficult to imagine, but still).
Conan? A long story :D

Not the czar Nikolaï (Pavlovitch Romanov), rather Nicolas-Alexandre marquis de Ségur known as the "Prince of Vines" (Châteaux Lafite, Latour, Mouton and Calon-Ségur).

I presently have a Château Lafite in my cellar, just waiting for the right occasion to taste it...No it won't be this monday, I do like Paradox but not that much.

Of course. It wasn't the Russians charging the home islands at a million miles an hour, it was the A bombs which actually didn't even meet up to the destructive capabilities of the worst firebombing raids.

The Russians only declared war to Japan very late, the 8 august 1945. Two days after the first atomic bomb was dropped, one day before the second one. Hiro-Hito announced the surrender on august 15, which was finalized on September 2.

Though that did help the Allies I don't deny this fact, they did this mainly as a last ditch effort to get some spoils when Japan was already almost beaten.

Which is very amusing when you consider the slavaboos who claim the western Allies did that in Europe.

It's certainly plausible that without the Soviet invasion the Japs might have held out for longer, however the fact that we'd reduced their major cities to rubble and had nearly total control of the air made their situation utterly hopeless either way. It's just a question of how many dead there needed to be on each side.
