*shrug*

The US had the resources to do damn near anything they wanted. They devoted almost as much resources to the Manhattan Project as some other countries did to their entire war effort. From a historical perspective it makes some sense.

From a gameplay perspective I'm not certain of the effects of having high neutrality early on, but it's likely they'll be behind in tech in '41, which would mean they need a boost to reach full power.

They have a very hard start, "thanks" to the Great Depression national spirit which stuck them with Isolation law, remove 1 PP (which let USA with 0 PP as the other one is used by the National Focus) plus adding malus to civilian factories locked for civil consommation and a malus to %tage of recruitable population.
When you get rid of it in 1940, it can become the most powerful state of the world.

The US doesn't even have double the industry of Germany, so they are definitely ahistorically nerfed.

Is it scientist haven that gives them the second additional slot?

USA will build up their industry over several years, starting industry will not be the same as end game industry not to mention the effects of concentrated industry vs dispersed industry.

Well its not some small 20% that is missing.

From wiki (might not be updated):
Country-Civ-Navy-Mil-Total
United States 10 17 128 155
Germany 40 10 32 82
USSR 36 6 42 84
UK 14 19 34 67
France 6 8 36 50
Italy 19 11 20 50
Japan 22 15 25 62

Which leaves US some 100 factories short of actual World% in 1936. USSR some 20-40 factories short. The naval dockyards also seem to be all over the place.

Im pretty sure you can build dockyards without any construction penalty no matter how civilian oriented your economy law is so it may be a good thing for nations such as USA to build in 1936. Im not sure if dockyards effects consumer goods either which again make them a good choice early.

Okay, so total construction cost is this:

United States 1012850
Germany 406900
USSR 451500
UK 356950
France 306800
Italy 248150
Japan 307950

That seems kind of reasonable actually. So USSR is a bit behind historically, but it is hard to say how much, and US is a bit behind but it isn't a super big deal, and after great depression is removed they can expand the quickest.

Are those wiki numbers correct? I found 132 civilians and 22 dockyards for USA in a forum search.

Anyone with a press build here?

EDIT: just made a screenshot from a twitch stream past broadcast from today:

The huge US advantage in resource will increasingly translate into factories, as more countries turn to the US, for oil and other strategic material.

Keep in mind that about 1945 (when that 5th slot will fire up?) USA had about 50% of global GDP! Plus I think that 6th slot is for sole purpose of nuclear and rocket tech. As they are possibly the only country who will have enough free industrial and resources capabilities to use it up, if the war will will be an mirror of the ww2.

A civilian factory is about twice as expensive to build as a military factory and as they build the other factories they effect how quickly your industry will develop so if you count civilian factories as 2 factories USA get about a 100 factory lead over Germany at the start.

You also have to factor in the insane low construction efficiency. Undisturbed Isolation gives -50% on Civ and Mil Construction.
Calculated with the Day 1 available factories if factoring in the efficiencies (Trade + Economy) Germany has a factor of 20.79 for constructing civs versus 18.4 for US.
For Civs its still Germany in the lead with 18.9 vs 18.4. And Germany can switch to War Economy instantly which increases that to 26.46/22.05 over 18.4. Plus Germany can get more Factories through early decisions way easier than the US.

Interesting here is if Dockyards have the same -50% or are unaffected by Economy Law (which would be strange).
