It seems my modest army is winning against the Axis in Asia only because of the massive support it is receiving from Strategic Bomber Command. We recently annexed the Axis countries of Mengkukuo and India. We also established the China-Nanking puppet where Nationalist China (Japan's puppet) once loomed; and will soon be annexing N. China and Japan (only one more VC to get in each). And the speed of conquest has left us diplomatically behind because we could be liberating other puppets like Burma, Malaysia, Nationalist Vietnam and Korea.

I have 31 STR-IV wings (one was shot down over Germany last year). But it only takes a dozen (3 stacks) to reduce a country like India to an infra-wasteland in about a week. Just one hit from one bomber stack will take a province’s 200 infra (even if mountainous) to only 2-5% remaining if one has achieved every strategic doctrine possible.

Now we are seeing many of Hitler’s numerous Asian puppets for the first time thru our Norton bomb sights since we took off the gloves (removed the ESC/FTR brigades) and are flying very long missions to systematically destroy them so only their off-map IC remains. And we expect that our next conquest – the once feared Manchukuo (as we have so few divisions to attack them) - will quickly lose its teeth after a couple days of strategic “softening up of the enemy”.

Unfortunately we are fighting a war with ever more fronts appearing as the Wehrmacht is rushing powerful forces to take back the Asian losses. There are panzers rushing thru Persia, panzers crossing the Himalayas, and I suspect a lot more panzers traveling the Trans-Siberia Railroad route to attack us from ever increasing directions.

NO PROBLEM:

1) Find the panzers in the vastness of Asia using long range bombers (the STR-IV has a 1300 km range).

2) Hit the provinces they are in and all around with three STR stacks for 2-3 days reducing all the infra to near zero. The panzers soon stop moving! And because it is puppet territory, it stays destroyed much longer than German provinces.

3) Must do battle with strong panzers forces? Don’t worry too much! Just send URGENT REQUEST to Strategic Bomber Command and the panzers will next day suffer nil ESE all around to seriously weaken their attack as each hour passes.

BUT THERE IS ONE DRAWBACK… anything devastated by strategic bombers as much as we are doing takes very long to fully repair once we capture it. But for a comparatively small Liberation Army now spread from Karachi to Vladivostok, it is our “bomber umbrella” that is mostly responsible for us not having been pushed back into the sea by the countless numerically superior enemy.

"Bombs away!"

One experiences this issue from the other side of the fence when playing GER SP in TRM.

It must be utterly horrifying. I can just imagine how disruptive it would be to anybody's game. And the damage done is immense. Playing as Germany there is only one solution - a massive and more modern Luftwaffe than the enemy. You need to 'divide and conquer" totally smashing the RAF before the USAAF appears so you can smash it next.

It seems to me that in the later years STR bombers can be far more important than panzers. If they can stop enemy movement because average ESE just got changed to critical ESE that is pretty impressive. Of course, it takes the right circumstances: German puppets in Asia where ESE is already not great, the fact that puppet can't repair quickly because the puppet can quickly have all its factories destroyed too, and an abundance of bombers so that in a couple days a target of panzers can have the province they are in and all surrounding provinces reduced to only 1% infra.

And the really nice thing for the USA player who has many STR is that it is practical to base 2 stacks on an airbase of only Level 1 - and they can strategically bomb day after day with nil org loss, and not even any damage as very few places in eastern Asia even have AAA. And there don't exist the airbases to support enemy INT - which have no meaningful range in eastern Asia anyway, and the AI doesn't even know how to get them there without huge org loss, and then sits a stack with nil org on a Level 1 or 2 airbase hoping for a miracle. All in all, it is a strategic bomber's best dream. But if flying over base with enemy aircraft there, I fly 2 STR stacks together (one hits the factories, the other the infra) and that way, when enemy INT do tangle with my bombers, the battles were always too quick for me to even witness (and I never noticed any damage to my planes). Given it is Vichy INTs Hitler decided to send to Asia, I am not surprised by how well my STR bombers can defend themselves with ESC/FTR brigade removed.
