I'm playing the US in 36. I'm trying to see if I can Ally with the SU before any real hostilities break out. I've influenced them to +200. Still getting 0% chance. Do I have to move move sliders to exactly what they have? Can I take out some of their ministers to get their sliders toward my point of- view?

Thought it would be fun to try this.

This is my first try with HoI, I'm not to knowledgeable with all the workings yet.

Thanks for any advice.

the SU is the leader of the comintern. the only way for you to ally with it
would be to join the comintern..dont know if thats possible with the US, though
id take a guess that its possible with the right slider movements.

Only possible if you've got a similar government to them... and you're a democratic right winger, so I doubt it...

Although, rack up some dissent and the revolution event triggers. Select communist and you can be roughly identical to the Soviet Union... then you could join.

You also need to have a higher interventional stance...

You can turn the US Stalinist within three months or so. Make stupid descisions that turn the dissent to 100 % (change a minister 50 times a row or so) and keep the dessent at that level.
After three or four months, the revolution should fire and you can choose between socialism and communism.
First mission will be to capture california....

Kind regards,
Roland

Are you sure that player's interventionalism matters? I thought only the target nation's does... I can be wrong though.

Actually in my last game as SU (HOI2 - 1,2) The US requested to join my alliance in october `42, and I accepted of course. There were no cheating involved and the US still had their historical goverment. Japan had not yet DOW`d them and they had plenty of useful blueprints for me :D

But that was the AI initiating the offer. The chances are always better when the AI initiates a trade.

So, from what I understand, I would have to turn the US communist to join with the Comintern?

You probably don't have to, but it helps.

I doubt there is any chance to ally with anything short of Social Democrat USA... Unless you change your own sliders to become more moderate (slider move waste)
