you also have to keep in mind that the US still had to produce consumer goods on a grand scale, whereas Germany was already on a total war doctrine (Totaler Krieg), where the maximum output was in 1944.
Correct. And even despite that, they still outproduced all the Axis nations combined.

As germany, I constantly find myself having either the same amount or slightly more IC then the US after Sealion.

I for one do not like this - the US's industrial output during WW2 was simply gargantuan, ouptroducing Germany, Japan and the UK combined by a sizeable factor.

So I am trying to come up with an event to add some IC to the US when they go to war, to correctly leave me outproduced and add some challenge - given that the AI is as dumb as a post, I hope this will add a small challenge.

So, based on the US's base IC of 281 in the 1936 GC, how much do you think I should add (along with about half the materials needed for them as the US already has insane amounts of raw materials)?

50? 100? 150? How much IC should I give the US?

a very simple way: go to your building costs file and change factory buildtime from 360 to 90 or 120. This will make minor nations way more fun to play, but also make the larger majors much more powerful, (ie in my last germany game, the soviets had ~350 base IC in 1941, while the US had 485 base) as they now consider building factors cost effective. The US is VERY good in DD, so good that i had to abandon my germany game because the only way to defeat them would be with nukes.

I landed in canada (couldnt land in the US because every beach had 5+ division garrisons) and the US moved over 250 divisions to meet me not more than 2 weeks after my landing, effectively stalemating the game (there was only 2 fronts at this point, and with over 120 divisions per province......). Its a shame, cause canada and the US are the only nations left at war with me in 1944. Ive annexed UK/France/Australia/SU, but the massive US army (300 divisions to my 600) is now stuck at home, using its entire army to defend beachs/ encircle my possible landings. The only option left is to wait for nukes or go through mexico.
