If I recall correctly us bomber crews only made 50 missions and then they could go home, will this be implemented with us aircrews losing xp?

In long term it resulted in better trained airforce, since after they finisher those missions, they went home and trained new crews - in that process transfering their knowledge and experience.

Considering that the 50 missions limit was only instated because flying bombers was considered so dangerous and mentally straining that command didn't believe anyone could go through more than two 25 mission tours, it really seems kind of odd to include it. Because what happens if Germany foregoes building AA and leaves your bombers unopposed? Or you manage to curb the luftwaffe so badly that no interceptors can attack your bombers? In those cases the USAAF might not institute a limit on the number of missions performed and suddenly it is a silly mechanic, because you are losing xp even though you are barely losing any planes from your bombing raids.

This level of detail in managing air forces is getting a bit fiddly. I'd bet we're unlikely to have much in the way of the modelling of training pilots (although would be very happy if we did), so balancing the XP loss from experienced pilots leaving the front but the XP gain from new pilots being taught by vets wouldn't be possible. That said, you might have 'air policies' that can be chosen for things like this that might do similar (although as Centurion well points out, it wouldn't necessarily mean an overall XP loss and could well be modelled as an overall XP gain if pilot training isn't modelled).

I know from highly scholarly sources that the 50 mission limit never mattered because they would just raise the limit and your only hope was to ride a lifeboat to Sweden.

Iirc, it was set at 25 missions (at least for the Eight Air Force), not 50, early after the war started (although it was changed several times) On any case, just one out of four crewman (during 1943 and first half of 1944) completed the 25 missions quota. Even if it might not seem it, being a heavy bomber crewman was rather dangerous.

Flying WWII aircraft was actually quite dangerous. US Army Air Corps had 52,000 combat deaths out of the total US combat deaths of 407,000. In addition there were another 36,000 non combat deaths (training in the US accounted for 21,000 of these). (Wiki quick source). Also there were ~40,000 air corps POW but "only" ~18,000 wounded in action and since the US didn't have many army based overrun after the Phillipines you can expect most of these losses were aircrew (you only lose maintenance and support personnel when you have your bases taken over by the enemy. I couldn't find an air crew vs rest casualty breakdown but with a peak force strength of almost 2.5 million the overall casualty rate was ~5% compared to a 10% rate for the rest of the army. However, the Army Air Corps trailed only Army ground forces in terms of total deaths in WWII (more than Marines or Navy).

You will be able to assign every single crew member of every single plane to a vacation. The game will also simulate all the things that are going on at home. So if the wife cheated on a pilot the morale of this particular pilot goes down etc. You know what I mean. That's all simulated, because everything we really need in a WW2 grand strategy game is more ridiculous micro management nobody truely cares about, when in game.

In short: There will probably be a maximum experience value (100 %). So yes, all this IS simulated in HoI 1, 2 and 3 already, but in a less annoying way. Why would they exclude experience?
