Marcia takes out her Keen Stone Sword and plunges it into the ground, kneeling. "I do swear my fealty to you, Baron Varim, and your master, whoever it may be."
"Moist excellent," the Baron says with a loud, echoey whisper, and he lays a hand upon Marcia. Marcia feels a sharp pain in her chest, that makes her gasp for air, but it's only temporary. As the pain subsides, she notices that her Keen Stone Sword has changed.
Although it is a cursed sword, Marcia now has a Hellbringer, making her much stronger then she was before. She is now Anti-Party.
((Yeah, if my character can loop back in the story later, that would be cool, because there's no in-character reason why he would stay after learning he isn't being paid. I mean, it's not like he hates you guys or anything, but it has only been a week.))
Thaepher decides to run, feeling that staying here would only serve to get himself killed. He promised himself that he would survive, and he would. He would not die here, fruitlessly and needlessly, for a doomed cause.
He felt bad. He knew that these people needed him, and by staying he may be able to help, if only a little. But he had to go. He turned around and ran as fast as he could.
He didn't look back.
Thaepher, realizing that all is lost if he stays and fights, leaves. Being on the hill, he doesn't even need to roll to get out. With that, Thaepher's arc in this campaign is over.
((Dragon Shenanigans to the rescue? It's looking pretty bleak))
((Dragon shenanigans are about to start, don't worry.
