I think the answer to this mystery lies in the fact that most streamers have been doing missions with half a skull or one skull in difficulty. Once we see streamers take on 4/5 skull missions we'll see Urbies coming out of the gawd-damned walls :D

The mechs are weighted by rarity, it's in the JSON files. What troubles me is we haven't seen a single variant that wasn't in the beta files I don't think, and I know there is some stuff in timeline that we should be getting. Not even chassis but variants. The PPC Shadowhawk for example, or the Hunchie 4J.
The list of variants was published too. There will be no HBK-4J unless you mod it into the game. No SHD-2K either.

Urbie OP :) Don't want to make the early game too hard.

Have they shown any base assault missions? That is where I would expect Urbies to show up, especially if it is a Capellan base.

Yes, they have had a few base assaults, but still no Urbies and none in the shops although all other lights and even some mediums have shown up.

Might see urbanmechs more in Inner Sphere space rather than Periphery space. Especially in Liao territory.

Might be able to buy some partials or fulls on Liao planets too. I'd also check the FedSun Capellan March area as well.

I hope the mech distribution is linked to "where" you are. Meaning: If you are within the Conf. Capella, you see more Urbies since they are produced exclusively on Betelgeuse, a firm Liao-planet near the Marik-Border.

I think, most streamer played within the Periphery or did Story missions and chose not to engage against House Liao, which could explain the ... lack of Urbies as an Enemy.

Can I rename them the Acapella Confederation?

After the long and tedious search your team finally reached the Star League cache. Trembling with anticipation, you break open the ancient doors. Behind them lies your long-sought prize - a 6-pack of Urbanmechs in factory packaging.

Now I'm imagining a SWAT lance of Urbies called the Tallboys.

Thanks, I've been looking for a variant list. Upon release, I will not play a single drop of this game's mercenary campaign until every single in-timeline variant with available assets has been modded in  . Gameplay balance does not excuse the omission of entire canonical variants whose chassis are present and can be fully dynamically modeled!

Expect to see my mod soon after release! It will include the following mech variants, most quite rare, each with a handcrafted cost, BV, rarity, and light hardpoint inflation to differentiate it from its sister variants :

LIGHT
  • Locust - LCT-1E, LCT-3V
  • Commando - COM-1D
  • Spider - SDR-5D, SDR-5K
  • Firestarter - FS9-A, FS9-K, FS9-M
  • Jenner - JR7-A, JR7-F
  • Panther - PNT-8Z
  • Urbanmech - UM-R60L
MEDIUM
  • Cicada - CDA-2B
  • Blackjack - BJ-1X, BJ-1DB, BJ-1DC
  • Vindicator - VND-1AA, VND-1X
  • Centurion - CN9-AH
  • Hunchback - HBK-4H, HBK-4J,
  • Trebuchet - TBT-5J, TBT-5S, TBT-7K
  • Shadowhawk - SHD-2K
  • Wolverine - WVR-6M
HEAVY
  • Dragon - DRG-1C, DRG-1G
  • Catapult - CPLT-A1, CPLT-C4
  • Orion - ON1-VA
  • Black Knight - BL-7-KNT-L
ASSAULT
  • Awesome - AWS-8R, AWS-8V
  • Victor - VTR-9A, VTR-9A1
  • BattleMaster - BLR-1D, BLR-1S
  • Stalker - STK-3H, STK-4N, STK-4P
  • Highlander - HGN-733C
  • Banshee - BNC-3Q
  • Atlas - AS7-RS
(Note: Due to concerns of geometries not behaving correctly or downright not exsisting the COM-1C, HBK-4N, HBK-4SP will be included in a seperate file if you want them.)

Was this an HBS release or just what people dug out of the beta files? I was of the impression that list was just what was seen in the beta files.

Tutorial version?
Definitely.

The starter Blackjack files in the beta were identical to the standard Blackjack, except that the jump jets were removed. In the tutorial, there is a story point where your jump jets malfunction and are no longer available.

@HBS_Kiva on Twitter about Urbanmechs:
I have to say I am curious about this. Given how much love the Urbie get's I would have expected it to be the most frequent mech second only to Locusts.

Can't have too much of a good thing ;).
