Well, that was quite the dramatic defeat for the Axis there. Italy is still (notionally) in the fight, but I suspect the British are on the verge of rolling them up as well.

Soviet aggression against Poland and the Baltics surprises me not one whit, though the vicious Polish defense does to a degree. Nevertheless, it looks like the Soviets are making slow but steady gains, even though they're practically piling body upon body to do it.

Also: Rockets for Uruguay! :D Now we just need something nice and shiny to put on top of one...

Indeed, one should never be surprised by that! :)

It’s a funny game, isn’t it? Here we are cheering Uruguay on to become the North Korea of South America!

Still, no UN sanctions to worry about, but I’d be wary of Belgium: access to all those German scientists and factories, plus its own uranium resources ...

BELGIUM!!!!

A3ewY2H.jpg
So that may have been British or French troops doing much of the Belgian Blitzkrieg?
Hahaha, this made me laugh so hard :D. But indeed as Bullfilter thought, it's actually Allied troops pushing into German lands from Belgium, but Belgium reaping the benefits (remember my AAR where I pushed from Denmark and Denmark getting all the occupation zones). Nonetheless, clearly a prestigious thing for Belgium :p. This observe game from South America is very interesting, never thought it could be so different.

Excellent performances from Super Belgium and the Great Amphibian of Britain. Also congratulations to France on not surrendering and... being present.

With no Germany left that's one less possible target for the Uruguayan nuke. After the way the war in Western Europe went I don't feel confident in guessing how the other wars will turn out, but I look forward to find out.

Haha, glorious. :D
It is, isn't it?

Yeah Belgium! And GB too, come to think of it. Thought they were done doing interesting stuff after they were kicked out of the Baltic but apparently not...
Yes lots of UK activity in the amphibious realm.

Geeeez. Belgium went bonkers, nuts, and any other word you can think of. It's even funnier because I played my first ever game as Germany yesterday and VERY nearly lost to Benelux.

Another great entry. Keep it up!
Yes indeed :) Thanks.

Belgium Uber Alles! I take it the dynamic is similar in HOI4 as in 3: if an ally takes terrain from your bordering land, you get the benefit? So that may have been British or French troops doing much of the Belgian Blitzkrieg? Whatever, the drain of the drawn out war with the Czechs clearly took its toll.

Thinking yet of a suitable target for your thermonuclear statement of intent? Is there any way of knowing who else may be researching the same lines and how far they may be along? Or are these merely restricted and form-bound considerations that are essentially irrelevant to the Player’s purpose?:cool:
As @Tom D. says below territory can work like that. This is an ironman game (which means I have fewer screenshots that I would like), otherwise I would have turned fog of war off and watched. I think probably two things happened - one given it was '42 I think Belgium had actually managed to build up a slightly larger army. Also I think it just blindsided the Germans - a whole new extension to the flank they were not prepared for and never managed to contain again. Especially as Britain was doing amphibious invasions all over the place.

Yes I was very surprised about how resistant the Polish alliance has proven to be - they even managed to take Leningrad (if briefly) for heaven's sake. But ultimately the Red Army has an excess of quantity that is a quality all of its own, as it were.

If there is one thing @Tom D. has taught me it is to never, ever under-estimate Belgium.

Hahaha, this made me laugh so hard :D. I thought you would like it :D

And yes, it is proving very interesting - however the rapid defeat of Germany does mean World Tension is likely to go down pretty soon. And remember, I need 100 WT to actually do anything.

The reason why I haven't shown much of the Pacific war is because not much is happening. Pearl Harbour has fallen to Japan, Iwo Jima has fallen to the USA. The USA, Aussies, and Dutch get the odd bridgehead in China that then gets crushed.

Now that is some Alt-history.:) What a show!

Too bad things unfolded so fast, you couldn't sneak in a spy-mission to China to nab some bottle-rockets to advance that pursuit.:)
If I don't do anything in this game, I can't call it boring.

Well the German war is over. Looks like Yugoslavia surrendered before it was conquered, and its new government has joined the allies. So has the newly minted German Republic - and now the Second Brazilian Republic joins them too. Let us check the progress of the other two wars.

0Xi2oBE.jpg

Well those Poles can fight, the Red Army continues to bleed, but if I would guess there time is coming to an end. Oh look it has ... and the Soviets have decided to transfer western Poland over to Germany. As for the War of the Pacific, well if we are being honest not much is happening, is it?

Let’s fast forward a bit …

The United States of American declares war on the German Republic ….

What?

I have no words form-bound. Your kind can be really irrational at times. But before the year finishes there is more important developments.

Well that isn't ideal. And long verbal descriptions wouldn't really go with the rest of the AAR.

With words and pictures out, that only leaves Interpretative Dance. I look forward to you seeing Uruguay nuking Washington DC expressed through the medium of dance.

Hey USA, Germany is Democratic already, could you like... please stop this war!
The next update will have the big reveal that due to crazy alt-history reasons the USA is no longer democratic and is, in fact, the bad guy of this timeline.

Australia will realise it's sided with evil, Curtin will be shot as a traitor and the new leader reapply to the British Empire. Meanwhile Britain and Canada will take on the duty of recolonising the US and turning it into a properly civilised country, possibly several smaller countries. Everyone will chip in to try and fix New York and Washington DC after they are nuked by Uruguay.

What, FDR was actually Hitler in a mask, fighting democratic Germans and the rest of Western Europe? And then it turns out it wasn't Hitler's at all but...oh, I don't know, Lenin?
And Europe has fallen under the thumb of Leopold III who is in fact secretly Leopold II, the evil king of Belgium, in a mask!

And the entire UK parliament are in masks, playing themselves. Or with themselves, if you listen to some mean French propaganda.

The world gone mad. It’s not alt history, but anti-history! Looking forward to future developments: their forms may be bound in this world, but their destructive imagination seems free to roam! As Uruguay seeks to render millions permanently formless.

Well, that took a turn for the strange rather quickly. Will we perhaps see Japan align with the Allies against the United States, dragging Britain into the War in the Pacific against the Dutch and the Australians?

...That sentence just seemed so wrong to type :\

Well that isn't ideal. And long verbal descriptions wouldn't really go with the rest of the AAR.

With words and pictures out, that only leaves Interpretative Dance. I look forward to you seeing Uruguay nuking Washington DC expressed through the medium of dance.

The only dancing I do is the terpsichorean movement of my fingers tapping on the keyboard.

Uruguay Uranium Delivery Vehicle :D

Maybe the U.S. looks up to Belgium and wants to follow in its footsteps?
I thought you might like that ... who knows?

Is it possible to turn off ironman at this point, perchance? If it helps making the AAR good...
Well if it was not Ironman I would probably have frequent save points in the past, as is my wont, so I can reload the saves to get some screenshots of how things were. The Ironman obviously removes this possibility. I don't know, perhaps in 1943 I just forgot to take screenshots, I seem to have plenty for '44.

Hey USA, Germany is Democratic already, could you like... please stop this war!
Hehe, yes. I am sort of tempted to submit a bug report on it. USA had attack Germany focus done, Germany surrenders becomes democratic member of the Allies, USA attacks Germany. Fun ensues.

The amusing thing is the USA remains Democratic under Roosevelt.

Poland is taking a leaf from OTL's Finland. And what a job Belgium!
Yes - one cannot claim the Poles and Balts made it easy for the Soviets.

All in all it is a delightful game :D

The world gone mad. It’s not alt history, but anti-history! Looking forward to future developments: their forms may be bound in this world, but their destructive imagination seems free to roam! As Uruguay seeks to render millions permanently formless.
And yet frustratingly Uruguay still cannot actually do anything since, because of how this game has progressed, world tension remains resolutely sub-100!

Well, that took a turn for the strange rather quickly. Will we perhaps see Japan align with the Allies against the United States, dragging Britain into the War in the Pacific against the Dutch and the Australians?

Given the way this game is going, I am not going to count anything in or out.

I have no words form-bound. Your kind can be really irrational at times.
and I have nothing to add to that in-sight.:D

A wild tale this.:) The Q is; will the USA's allies will keep out of this business?

I think they would be unwise to get involved - I mean the Dutch would have no chance seeing as they border mighty Belgium. :)
