Upgrading interceptors

In my DD game, the Germans (me) have reached interceptor tech level 8, but the AI is not upgrading the level 5 interceptors I have flying around. I do not have techs 6 & 7 which are the rocket interceptors, are they necessary to upgrade?

Kind of irritating. I've been using it as an excuse, though, to sell Type 5 Interceptors to my allies as I bring the Type 8's on line....

I did it yesterday, playing GER 36 N/A. I sell to Japan all my TAC bombers (already upgraded) in mid of 1937. And with this massive airpower JAP conquered NatCHI in autumn 1939. I like helping my potential allies and in DD its working wonderful.

In my next game i will try selling some units to NAtSPAIN in 1936. Just to ensure its victory, because Republicans steamrolled NAtSpain im my current game so fast

Well japan conquered NatChi in autumn of 39 for me as well, and I never sold them anything ;P

The open trade option. Just as if you wanted to trade blueprints.
