[UPGRADED FORUM] Feedback thread

With the graphical improvements made possible by the fix found here I am now more or less content with the forum as is. I see the login issue is being addressed (eventually), looks like restoring Dev only posts is a priority, and threadmarks are back (?).

The only additional thing I would like to request is an ability to, on the account side, replace the game "tiles" on the main page. I realize that the "tiles" have their use as a default option (to allow new users who are just coming to ask a question to just go there), so I only humbly request the ability to toggle the tiles on and off in our account preferences. The "bar" format that games such as Vicky II or Age of Wonders: Planetfall have are totally fine as the "alternative" option. Think I might actually prefer those over the old forum/subforum format (distinct from one another but still fairly compact since they are stacked horizontally as well as vertically).

User groups are gone too? (insert surprised emoji here.... because none of the "new" emojis really get that across, besides "er what" which looks dumb).

The threads posted in them have been kept in an inaccessible forum, but the groups themselves seem to either be gone or hidden. Note that this hidden forum is one of the most bizarre and eclectic now, mixing modding teams, tech support, philosophy and political discussion.

Just wanted to point out ... maybe someone allready did ... that Avatars are gone. :-/

The old format was far better. For a start in the old format you could see at a glance when the last dated posts in individual forums, whether other games or forums inside games. Now you have to click them open to see them.

A vote to bring the old format back.

That new button for hiding badges on individual posts seems incredible useless to me, the only way this could be helpful would be if it allowed hiding all badges in general.

A good thing to keep in mind is sunk cost fallacy.

Yes switching to this forum might have cost a lot, but if you need to pay more money to fix it, or face diminished activity. Switching back might be a more logical option.

As per my post, this is exactly what I'm talking about. I thought that was the only place to see it, initially. It was only after the post I seen it is also under your total messages at the side next to every post.

I never mentioned being able to see who reacted to posts at all, so interesting to jump to that conclusion.

I misunderstood you then, since I understood it as you wanting to remove that page, my bad.

Something I haven't seen mentioned, is that in the previous forum, at the bottom of the page, next to the page list, it told you how many posts were left in the thread. This is a small thing, but I thought it was nice to have. Now it's gone. Please bring it back.

At the bottom of the page there's a small button called toggle width. Press it, then you have posts become wide again.

Every time I scroll a page (with the mouse or keyboard arrows) two arrows appear on the bottom right of the screen, which is distracting. Laptop touchpad doesn't seem to activate this, but I almost exclusively use a mouse. EDIT: Laptop touch pad also makes the animation appear.

I had the same problem when i upgraded my forum from XF1 to XF2. Was an issue with 1 of the webservers not setting the correct IP.

My main two complaints so far are:
* The images on the front page are *bad*. Now, I think there should be text for all titles, but even if you decide to be wrong about that, *please* use images that actually work. On e.g. the Imperator image, the title is almost unreadable on that background.
* The lists of subforums on the individual game forum pages are just unusable. It's impossible to see at a glance what subforums even exist...

Basically on the old forums information was *much* easier to find

Well, you can click on those arrows to fastrack to the top or bottom. Actually quite helpful if you are too lazy to press the button on the keyboard which does the same thing. If the whole forum design won't be compressed a bit to offer a better compacter overview, we'll probably need to get used to so much scrolling that we might even start to wish that those pointers show up in the centre of the display (for fastest access).

By the way: Dear Paradox staff, at the moment it looks like many css-settings which are for mobile are still also part of the css-file for pc-monitors (perhaps also vice versa). Is it reasonabe to hope that this mix which is probably a pain for both user-groups will get sorted out in the next weeks?
