Upgrade to Digital Extreme Edition *STEAM*

Greetings!

A friend of mine gifted me EU IV on Steam but, while I'm very grateful for that, my intention was to buy the digital extreme edition... Any way for me to upgrade this before release?

Unfortunately, currently there is no way for gifted copies to be upgraded to the Digital Extreme Edition of Europa Universalis IV.

It does, but look on the bright side of things, you are still getting this for free. And your friend sounds like a nice person, so that is another plus.

You could see if because it was a gift, if you could refund the money to yourself and then use that and some of your own money to purchase Digital Deluxe?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way on Steam...

I'm in exactly the same position, and also asked Steam support, they told me this:

Currently, there is no option to upgrade the purchase. The only thing we can do is to refund the gifter the funds and have them repurchase and gift the game for you, or you can purchase upgraded version yourself once the game has been refunded to the gifter.

If you would like for us to issue a refund to the gifter, please have the gifter submit a ticket referencing this ticket# so that we can issue the refund.

I don't want to bother the gifter so I'll just get the stuff after release I guess :/

Like you can buy the Gold edition upgrade for Civ 5? Or did I misunderstand.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way on Steam...

You can refund pre orders, so if you applied the gift to your account, and asked for a refund you might be able to work around it. However Johans new thread answered all of the questions

The Deluxe Edition is just DLC - Nothing exclusive. You can upgrade your copy after release and not miss a thing.
