I was wondering. When I start producing new equipment and upgrade the equipment in my units, what happens with the old equipment ? Is this going back in stock ?
Or is the only way to upgrade equipment by replacing lost equipment during training / battles ?

As far as I understand it it would only go into stockpile if no other unit was waiting on equipment of the same type, If there are units still waiting on light tanks 1 and you start making light tanks 2, I think the light tanks 1 that you replace in a unit would get given to those waiting for light tanks to fill their template. Once all requirement of light tanks was filled, the surplus would then go into stockpile.

I think you can then lend lease that surplus stuff to other countries.

Note quite, but almost.

There is only one equipment type named Light Tank. You can have different models of light Tank, but the better models will go to the divisions on high priority status while the old ones will go to the divisions with low priority. If all divisions has filled their ranks with light tanks the surplus will go to stockpile.

Equpment is never in surplus.. just look at the 4th WWW video. Jacob suddenly was in major deficit of 12K infantry weapons while prior to combat he was good to go.
