I just wanted to let you know that following some compatibility tests, we realized that we had to update the system requirements for Stellaris. You can find the updated ones here: https://www.paradoxplaza.com/stellaris

Most noticeable is the removal of Windows Vista. The game might still run with it, but we can't guarantee it. We can only apologize for this rather late change.

What sort of performance do you aim for in "minimum" standards?

Is it because the game is in space so there is no terrain to draw ?

Looking at the Linux specs on that page, I don't think meant to specify latest WHQL drivers in that section, since "Windows Hardware Quality Labs" is kinda inherently a Windows thing

I assume you mean latest propriety drivers?

Substantially increased processor, video and memory requirements as well, but no big surprises. My PC only just chugs along with a 'fully-loaded' EU4, so I was already planning it's successor.

Is the 'new spec' going to become the defacto default for future PDS releases?

I love how the Minimum requires is actually my computer... I have the same ATI graphics card and processor quad-core listed (though 8gb ram, rather than 2gb). It means I will be able to play Stellaris!

(Unfortunately, due to fininical circumstances, it is not feasible to upgrade computer till Sept'17 as it will require using rainy day funds.)

We haven't run the final tests with HOI4 yet, but I expect them to be somewhere close to this yes.

Stellaris has been tested and the system requirements are based on that test.

On a scale from CK2 to EU4, how will it run?

I also want to know this. I love CK2, but I am eternally frustrated at how badly the game runs even with my FX-8350. I'll play Stellaris either way, but it would be much nicer if the game actually ran well.
I feel like it would be interesting to see Paradox release a benchmark with their rigs to see how the performance is relative to their other games.
