Given that the rules are forum (and workshop), by posting the mod on the forums, the modders agree with the rules. On other sites, the modders do not have to respect these rules, and have their copyright. Thus, there is no case to be made at court.

it doesn't change anything legal wise that you post a link to a mod here. Its forum rules, they got zilch legal implications. If you don't follow them then you get kicked of the forums and/or steam workshop and thats that. Should there exist copyright in the given situation it will not be affected one way or the other by this.

My point is that PDS does not take away the claimed copyright/licence by removing the mod from the forum/workshop, thus I don't see how it could be brought to court.

"4) The User Mod may not claim ANY kind of license or copyright of any kind (You can still have Credits)" is in my opinion unenforceable, since these rights are automatically given upon creation, without needing any formal registeration. Thus I don't see how you could ban someone for it.

Their forum/workshop their rules. And I might be wrong, but as far as I am aware that rule is there primarily to prevent somebody getting mad if PI implements something in game that a mod already had done.

I don't want to make such a fuss about it however, my (otherwise quite poorly written, I blame the late hour and the evening's activity) yesterday's post was mostly made because I felt some modders' concerns were quite valid and that one of them was being answered quite rudely.

I am not saying their rules are above the law. I am saying that the forums and the workshop are theirs and they completely decide what is allowed on it can can arbitrarily decide something can't be on it. So they can decide that you need to follow these non binding rules if you want to use their systems.

I would like to note that you can actually download mods from Steam Workshop without owning the game such as for EU4 which renders locking mods to the forums or Workshop kind of moot. Furthermore as we can't upload directly to Paradox's website we must use file hosting websites which also allow pirates to immorally and quite easily download the mod if someone posts the link from the forum, again rendering the draconian restrictions moot.

Why can't you upload it if it is less than 1 GB? You can attach files up to 1 GB in size so I don't see why you can't.

I know when it was, but my point is that in Castellon's last response, he also said "I haven't seen any new questions that haven't already been answered".

Disagree would mean a negative response, not arbitrary "downvoting". The most plausible interpretation @myzael meant that it was impossible to upload mods, probably regardless of size. Or maybe that he thinks PDS should not have this functionality at all, and for personal reasons disagree with the concepts. Another reason could be that he simply disagrees with your wording of the question, and thus disagreed. A fourth reason might be those famous "revenge disagrees", but I have never seen in application, and don't think it signifies anything. Otherwise he might have thought that it was too off-topic fpr this thread, and disagreed to show that your post that was in the wrong place.

@Wagonlitz The fact you can host it here is irrelevant for the argument that a mod can be distributed outside forums easily if people want to host it themselves. That's assuming the upload works, which it doesn't.

Neither is it relevant for the argument that you can download workshop mods without owning the game, which makes the hosting/distribution/repository restrictions effectively moot.

About each new version i try uploading M&T on the forum... even uncompressed, it is much less than 1Go (143Mowhen compressed with 7zip)... it keeps failing, whichever internet browser i use.

Why can't i do it ? no idea...

Every once in a while, i report it again, and all i get (when i get a response) is "we are working on it"... As Myzael and Delpiero work for large mods, they can vouch that those uploads don't work.

Edit : tried again right now, 26Mo work, but not 143Mo.
