If it is, the dev team must have increased its masochism quotient. Far better to have some work time available immediately after an update than to get yanked into the office to repair immediate-response-necessary issues on a weekend.
They usually do the fridays so players cam enjoy the game over the weekend. Makes sense to me

I sure hope so, between the massive imbalance with machine empire economies, synthetic ascension being completely broken, and gaia world terraforming deleting deposits, all of my preferred playstyles simply do not work.
This. I now have to think hard about the playstyle and mods to counteract the various bugs associated

My last game was Fanatical Purifiers (which I do not enjoy that much in general) on a small galaxy, because by purging pops and glassing entire planets, that would give me more time before the horrendous lag kicks in. Unfortunately, it still got pretty bad around the mid-game, so I just give up and stopped playing. 2.2.4 beta.

I am just waiting for the new beta to come out, hoping this would improve performance, but I am starting to lose hope...

Hm, really ? 2.2.4 really fixed in the most part the horrendous lag late game (medium galaxy) but just managing a high number of planets when playing "wide" is really unfun and discouraging to me (at least with the current tools that allow you administer your planets).

No. It didn't. It mitigated it somewhat. But there is still a long way to go before you can call it fixed.

The Gaia-terraforming bug in particular is killing me; there are all sorts of builds I could play that avoid most of the (non-performance) bugs, but they all want World Shaper at some point.
Devouring Swarm this weekend, I guess.
