This is the exact same crap paradox and Microsoft put us as players and customers through back when surviving mars green planet expansion was supposed to be released on xb1.

Same bullcrap where if you had season pass it still expected you to buy green planet DLC and the optional animals pack.

Of course if you still bought it it wouldn't work. Lo and behold the same crap is happening AGAIN. Shame on you paradox for not learning your lesson the first time with surviving mars and now repeating it with the most highly anticipated expansion for stellaris on xb1.

Why is it other publishers on xb1 have no problems pushing out DLC's on a promised release date with no problems yet you, paradox, can't get your stuff straight for the second time now this year with DLC's.

And don't even get me started on lack of mod support for stellaris on xb1 even though paradox has had seven months to implement it.

Because of how this is being botched with utopia DLC just like surviving mars green planet was, it took over 48 hours to finally get it fixed so I am not expecting to play utopia DLC at least until Thursday night if not friday.

Next time paradox get your stuff together with Microsoft please. And if by some miracle it works tonight I'll be pleasantly surprised but I highly doubt that'll happen.

We already have it downloaded, its just activating it. Someone on my friends list said "Why cant they just send everyone activation codes? Idk how or if that'd work but...

Who knows at this point. I do know one thing though. With all this crap happening I am seriously considering NOT buying age of wonders planetfall on xb1 especially if the same DLC crap will happen again in the future.

Exactly. And it most definitely IS enabling. Bc when you have an option to still purchase the dlc with money while people who already paid DONT, that is a fucking problem. Like others have stated, take the option to buy it OFF THE MARKETPLACE UNTIL ITS RESOLVED. Not a hard concept to grasp.

So let's say you preordered a physical copy of a deluxe edition game that included all expansions. The store you purchased it from did not plan well and wasn't going to receive them on time for release. However, they did have copies of the base game and expansions separately. These are kept on the shelves for those that want to buy it. The developer had nothing to do with the mistake and they aren't going to pull their game b/c one store messed up. The expansion WAS released on time as advertised. If you choose to buy the items on the shelves because you're impatient then that's your problem and waste of money. It is by no means enabling the developer to do anything. The developer doesn't know that the same person is buying both copies. The store might but the developer doesn't. They just receive a check from the store based on how many copies of their game were sold. This still, as I have been saying, all falls back on MS.

I won’t pretend that I’ll boycott anything and won’t play the DLC immediately when I can, but I am a little annoyed at how this is being handled.

When my company has a bad release or outage, we are (rightfully so) expected to stay awake doing everything possible and giving updates until it is fixed. Regardless of who is at fault, even if it is completely unrelated and out of our control, customers still have expectations and we try to meet them.

So, it doesn’t matter if Microsoft is at fault, which may or may not be the case, because it isn’t Microsoft who the customers think of when problems show up. Either way, Paradox is a large enough publisher to pressure Microsoft stating they need to make their customers happy ASAP. Someone should be working on doing that until it is fixed, not signing off and checking in the morning to see if it got fixed for your customers.
Paradox is not a big enough publisher on console. I can count on my fingers the number of consol games they have released on xbox and have fingers left over.

Well I'll be. Thanks to user griffeth I got it working with one additional step.

Start button on game, manage game, see in Microsoft store, see add-ons, deluxe edition upgrade, then once selected install.

Then launch game, go to downloadable content, and highlight utopia expansion icon and smash X to enable DLC.

Good on the East Coast for me too.

I had to force quit my game and reload it before it would activate. Make sure to try that if you don’t see it marked as installed after downloading.

Oh boy what a surprise I can't play even though everyone else can seem like the uk shall be boned forever unless I fork out 17 pounds for a dlc I can wait to play but hey I paid for it already it shouldn't be like this , this is Bethesda levels of incompetence saying launch day is so and so and it not working as expected, the legacy of fallout 76 broken launch has spread to a decent developer with the launch of a dlc that doesn't work I wish I got a refund for this game but I sank too much time into it , if planetfall dlc is like this haha nope I'll just stick to destiny the other shockingly broken dlc game
