I assumed the situation with online poker was the gambling industry using their influence to cut out the competition.
I just wish I hadn't held off so long on pre-ordering the game.
Actually I find that people are more conservative these days, certainly the kids are! But again the current board don't strike me as super conservative, there's even a music industry guy and an IT and communications lecturer, also business people and sports leaders! But they would be briefed to reflect community standards and without sufficient context some elements of the game taken out of context could be seen as shocking! But of course it is art and it is comedy and frankly it is harmless. Damn give me CK humour over half the shooters any day
While one could make the argument that the incest and child murder memes potentially contributed to this situation, the ACB, or any ratings board for that matter, has the obligation to properly investigate what a game or other piece of media is about before coming to any decisions. No idea if they did in this case though, and wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they didn't.

Even better, send a letter (snail mail). They get taken much more seriously. When an MP and/or minister receives a letter, the thinking is along the lines of "The person who goes to the trouble of sending real letters is almost certainly an active voter, and possibly a donor." While a person who sends an email gets thought of as "Well, this person has a computer."I just sent a polite, no really a polite, email to teh minister asking for an explanation. They do read emails as well, but they don't have close to the same weight. I've never gotten anything more than a form response to an email, but back in Canada I got a personalized response from a minister's office, and actually got the change I asked for (admittedly a smaller change than changing or abolishing a legally enforced ratings system).
And of course always be polite.

The whole thing is very strange how there's no information. Usually we know if something has been refused classification as it is published. I hope it's not due to inaction on behalf of Paradox. Heard from a source that paradox haven't spoken to the classification panel in some time but don't want to read too much into that as that could be the fault of either party (for example the classification board requesting a lot of info from Paradox). It's certainly a unique situation compared to others games that have had trouble.
why don't you use a vpn ? Or ask a friend outside of Australia to gift you the game ?
That's against Steam's user agreement and is also impossible to use a VPN to buy region restricted games. It was patched out.

VPN - Does not work on the Paradox Store (rejects Australian payment methods). Don't really want to get my Steam account with >500 games banned for breaching Steam's user agreement

Steam store regions are locked regardless of where you log on from. To change to a new region you have to manually change the setting, then make a purchase with a payment method local to that region, for example a Swedish credit card to change your region to Sweden.
So I just got this in my inbox. Fanatical refunding ALL purchases, not just those from after the ratings stouch.

Yeah I really hope nothing happens to my Steam version I bought months ago.

My fanatical version got refunded without my consent as well. 10/10 Australian pearl clutchers.
They have said they're going to honour purchases already made so I think that means if you got ck3 from paradox or steam store your all good.
It seem to have been steam key sellers such as fanatical or gmg that have begun refunding, (so far only have confirmation of fanatical refunding but both stopped selling to Australians last night AEST).
It would be nice to have an update from paradox but I assume we'll get that when there is something to report, I just hope we don't end up with an inferior, censored version.
