Particularly since pillaging and plunder were primary (if not the primary) ways of funding wars in this time period. How many wars didn’t end with payment of many talents of silver?

I think perhaps the amount of popularity you gain from naval battles could be toned down just a tiny bit. If your ruler is unpopular, then the best way atm of increasing it is making him an admiral and going pirate hunting.

+29 popularity for killing 1 pirate fleet is a tad excessive.

edit: popularity not loyalty

You mean popularity right? Yeah it seems excessive considering how many pirates you get to kill in just a few years.

He did it with major style.
He singlehandedly jumped overboard fully armoured, and Poseidon himself came up from the depths to carry Nikokles over to the enemy fleet, where a single thrust of his spear pierced a hole right in the hull of the enemy vessel, sending it on a one way trip to the Krakens dinner plate.

What a f*****g legend.

Great stuff , few questions:

-will generals and admirals use state military exp for actions like construct fort, roads, root pirates, port assault and set back Military Tradition research significantly , or maybe there is a room to add their own personal xp for that until September

-will you consider nerfing conquerors mausoleum - 50% start xp for Military Traditions (i can smell exploit here, unless you wanted it to be this way)?

Two things after my two hours of play:

1: There's still an extraneous word in the "Ascendance of Rome" message at 1 Jan 451. The end of the first paragraph reads, "has shown other small states THAT the value of being on our side."

2: People will naturally hover their cursor over both the Aggressive Expansion and Tyranny stats to see all of the influences that are in play. They'll instinctively look initially for the number that tells them by how much each is changing. However, in the Aggressive Expansion tooltip that value appears at the top, while in the Tyranny tooltip it appears at the bottom. This may seem like an incredibly minor thing, but it really isn't. It's counter-intuitive and even after seventy hours I still have to manually search with my eyes for the stat because I can never remember which tooltip places it where. Consistency helps in forming habit.

Whay did asking for money in a peace deal get removed? At least add a CB that allows it as a wargoal or something.

On the UI front I'll have more to say once I've actually had a proper play but for now I'd like to request an "intrigue" tab or something so that I can see a portable and filterable list of all schemes I can see and interact with.

About pop culture assimilation :

I think agressive expansion should also give a malus to population assimilation speed.

In addition i think the assimilation speed is a bit too quick. Should be lowered by 25

How do you check progress for fabricating claims?

Also, money as part of peace deals was very much a thing during this period, not sure why it would be removed.
Probably removed as it could be exploited. Like I was able to take massive amounts of gold from Egypt. Also it could be to reduce the spiral of doom situations that can happen.
