What happens when a country loses provinces that would take it below 0 badboy then later recaptures them? Does it gain a positive badboy and become seen as a powermonger? Are all countries starting the GC at 0 badboy even though some like Spain are more of a world threat in the opening years?

Yes.

Yes.
This so you cannot build up a 'goodwill' pool that allows you to rampage all over europe later in the game.
I argued against the lowering of badboy below zero via the automatic reduction process in previous posts. A slow reduction of badboy was nonsense when you could never drop below other nations because they were just going further and further negative for doing nothing. This is not the same as a nation dropping below zero for being reduced to its capital province then reconquering to its original borders IMO. A minor point since it will not affect players normally.
I do think that some serious consideration should be given to giving at least each playable nation differing badboy ratings at the opening of each scenario to reflect its position of power at the time. A scenario that opens with Turkey or Russia at the height of its conquests should give them a much higher badboy than the start of GC, for example, in the same way that the scenarios open with diplomatic relations between countries as positive or negative, not all at neutral.

My problem on my desktop computer (I am able to play it on my laptop, thank God ) is that I get the white pixel, but then the opening movie plays fine. However, the game freezes either at the end of the movie or if I try to click past the movie. It doesn't crash to desktop, just freezes at a black screen. At this point I must hit the reset button, ctl-alt-del doesn't respond.
Is this a copy protection problem or some other problem? And if it is copy protection problems, then what do I do to be able to play the game?
Actually, I think the monarch VP in the logbook isnt a minor point. It is important to me to be able to trace historically who did well and who didnt governing my country.
Originally posted by Marlborough I see the question of whether 1.08 will be compatible with the IGC has been asked a few times, but havent seen a response.
I recall seeing something over on the Scenario board that an updated IGC is more or less ready to go but is awaiting the 1.08 patch. How long after the patch before it's out, I don't know.

Are you shure? I have 1.08 and in GC 'badboy' still can be negative. It grows much slower and reduces faster, but still can have negative value
I don't know where you got your 1.08 version (and I won't speculate) but when you first stated on this board that you had the 1.08 it wasn't even finished. If you have somthing saying 1.08 it is most certainly a (really) early beta with all sorts of bugs and halfworking fixes.
I wouldn't draw any conclusions from it regarding how 1.08 is supposed to work.
