Anyway, that discussion is over. Aladar's already changed the starting cash so that France has merely twice as much as England, rather than five times. That's fine with me.

Finally

Daniel,

The Black Prince was a major figure at Crecy, and was actually in service three years earlier when he was a lad of thirteen. ;)

At any rate, Aladar's not changing the leader start/death dates (Hive deprives England of ten years with the Black Prince, five of them rather dubiously) and I think that's probably fine, all things considered.

Aladar,

For the 196th time... If you told us when you changed the first post, it'd help. ;) Originally, England was getting 200, Castille 400 and the rest 1000. I have no objections to the current monetary setup. But you changed it without telling us.

I will point out that you're distributing governors throughout Europe and, once again, the deflation is percentile versus total provinces, so my 12 with governors are no different than Brandenburg's 3. As far as longterm, England will likely be smaller than most, not larger, and colonial, so the real beneficiaries are the central Europeans and the OE.

As far as cores, playing on Very Hard is a mistake, I think, but putting that aside the point is that England begins with them all over France. I've agreed to a cut in the central and eastern regions, but I don't think it's fair to strip them from the coasts. I'm not asking for a boost, Aladar, I'm asking for a more reasonable cut. There's a big difference.

EDIT: Read my post again. I do not have more MP than France. I have less.

Anyway, that discussion is over. Aladar's already changed the starting cash so that France has merely twice as much as England, rather than five times. That's fine with me.

Try reading post 40 !!! It's been so almost from the beginning, not my fault that you guys can't hit post 1 on a regular basis.

Well HoG, at Crécy he was formally in command of the van (assisted by Chandos and someone more) but as he was only around 16 I have always thought that his position was formal rather than real, perhaps somewhat similar to the one of the Duke of Burgundy at the battle of Oudenarde.

Interesting that tidbit of him being in service at the age of 13, did not know that :)

Aladar,

We're not required to hit post one on a regular basis. I saw it the last time you said it was updated. It was 1000-400 (Castille)-200.

If we open up for another 2 players, what nations should be made available?

I was hoping to limit it to european nations, but putting more into Central europe will crowd it a little i think.

So what do YOU think?

Imagine playing the right nation in the East, the one where Timur belongs. His life span was 1336–1405 and was a conquering warrior at least from the 1360s (perhaps as early a start as 1358 is justified) and up to his death. Since he is certainly the 6-6-6-type of leader his long life would arguably make him into the most useful leader in EU (Friedrich der Grosse is 666 and lives 40 years and is the only contender). Napoleon is only active for 24 years.

Well, the Knights have a 666 who lives for 40 years as well (in the middle of the 16th century) but no one ever plays them.

I wonder what stats Hive has given Timur.

And I guess Timur's nation should be Chagatai Chanate. That useless piece of shit land that only Jarkko have played in EU MP - if I may make a guess.

So Aladar, Chagatai is the nation to choose! :D

Mughal or something could be an option.

Thats exactly my point. Mughals don't exist till 1505 (Babur time). Before that it is, like Daniel pointed out, the Timurid Empire. Hell knows what it is in 1337. Each of the successive empires broke up, so they'll all have crap huge revolt risk events. Anyway, if someone wants to play them it should be fine though...

Aladar,

I requested Timur some time ago. That's the country that becomes the Mughal Empire.

The leader Timur-i-lange (Tamerlane) is a 5-5-5-3, which, as Daniel would probably agree, is too low. He ought to be a 6-6-6, but in the pre-assault era 3 siege is certainly rather valuable, so perhaps 6-5-6-3 is better. Also, Timur's DPs ought to be full offensive. They were the heirs of the Mongol invasion, afterall, and launched campaigns that destroyed Northern India (Timur razed Delhi), the Middle East (the Sack of Baghdad is the scene of one of the great Arabic poems), the Ottoman advance (for some fifty years, as they'd been on the verge of taking Constantinople when they were soundly beaten), Georgia (which Timur, inexplicably, invaded six times), the Golden Horde and a host of others. At his death, in his late seventies or early eighties, I believe, Timur was preparing an invasion of China.

His career began in the early 1350's, not 1369, in the service of Amir Kazgan, and by 1357 he was essentially Minister of War for Tughluq Temur. He was the ruler of his own state by 1364.

He was also a great Empire-Builder and deserves 9-9-9 stats, not 6-7-9 as Hive has it. And it deserves Orthodox tech during this period at least as much as the Ottomans. Timur was an enlightened patron of the arts and sciences, as were his successors all the way down to Akbar. And considering when the game starts, the tech groups for Muslims don't make any sense anyway.

All these things can be easily edited in the save. Whether I play them or not, it would be a shame to start the first (and perhaps the only) game in this era and not include Timur.
