im trying my first non german hoi2 game and wow sure is harder, i picked japan and read the wicky for some quick tips drew my katana and stared a 36 campaign. Besides having almost no builds no resources and no prospects except a protracted and draining war with china (and probably everyone else)i was still relatively optimistic about my odds at beating the rest of the world due to its severe handicap of being run by the AI :) . What i wasnt counting on was the high command's SACRED mission to move all mainland supplies resources and everything else to the all important province of chongyin !!!
i sure dont want everything i have right on the rusky border and i havent been able to move it. i tried convoying in and out of seoul and china but no effect ! i even tried 200 + transports both ways no effect ! isnt there a way to pick where your depot is ?

Manually send convoys to the province of your choice.

Unfortuantely the convoy system in HOI2 is a disaster. Its hard to manage it and its the only thing in the game better left to the ai   (did i actually say that?!) - since forgetting can mean starving the units. Unfortunately the ai sometimes for some reason thinks its a good idea to ship 4000 supplies to hong kong even if there is 1 unit there... makes me pull my hair out.

Some times its useful to restart the convoy engine . Stop all aoto convoy , cancel all routes , wait 24 hours and then star the engine again.
Should help

The depot location thing is a hangover from HOI1. It is very difficult to arrange for a depot to move from one place to another. I did practice this operation in HOI1 and it always involved

1) Exhausting the supply levels at the depot
2) Save and reload
3) Start a new supply convoy to a new location

There were obviously other aspects to as this did not always work. I always found it incredibly annoying that after invading the UK the first landing province was apparently the only sensible location for all stockpiles. The key thing seems to be to persuade the game to reappraise depot location at a time when there are two alternaqtive locations. If you are defeated by this then I would suggest simply editing the save file as you should only need to change one province ID.

Remember you can land supplies and oil wherever you like and they will magically move to the depot but resources have to be shipped from wherever the depot is located. If you have any success with this then let us all know how you did it.

i will certainly give this a try next time i reload ! that sounds like it might actually work ! i did notice while i was messing around that when u land a corps size unit or larger the AI makes a new depot in that location and tends to move all existing supplies to that spot , i think i may have landed some units in chongyin initially . also i noticed that i couldnt even extract or add resources /supplies to chongyin till i canceled the korean convoy (i might have stumbled on your trick there since it may have fixed itself once chongyin ran dry)but im not sure it was actually working , during that small period it kept the seoul depot at 35 supplies (no oil) and stayed steady while the chongyin depot plumeted like crazy , where did those supplies go before i cancelled the korea convoy ? ALSO is there any benefit of "shotgunning" the convoy ? like it says u need 15 trans for it to run and u use say ..300 !
anyway im very glad that i joined this forum i was amazed at how fast people help out also its very enlightening to read the other posts !always been a ww2 buff and im so glad hoi2 exists soooo much better than setting up a "wargame" (like a board game only ENOURMOUS)and trying to play it with a buddy who seems always less enthusiastic about it than u heh heh

Just edit the file and be done with it. But be careful - simply shifting supplypool and oilpool won't work. What you need to change (in addition to that) is control date. When AI chooses the depot location, it first looks whether you have any owned provinces there. If you have already annexed something on that continent or island, then the deopt will be in an annexed province which has been under you control longer than other annexed provinces. If you only control all provinces, then the depot goes to the one you've controlled the longest. So in order to move the depot, just cut your supplypool and oilpool from the depot, paste them in another province and change the control date for that province to an earlier date.
