Upon Himmler, we do agree :D

Goebbels was quite fond of astrology (wasn't he who was in contact with the Vril Society?) -as Hitler, methinks-, and Hess and Rosenberg were quite attracted by magic. However, one must reckon that the main "occultist" of the III Reich was Henrich Himmler, who was a member of the Thule Society.

likk9922: Follow, then:) I can not guarantee that you will escape unharmed, though.

: While I'm sorry for your stomach, I am glad to hear that my words have such a strong effect on you.

Kurt_Steiner: Quit spoiling the fun!:p Seriuosly, while I do intend to portray the characters in a matter at least plausible, I think there will be huge deviations from the original timeline, both for artistic/stylistic purposes, and both for the story.

ShadowWarrior: Well, there wont be any "hardcore" occultism here, after all, it is not called "hidden" for nothing.

Enewald: While I am not trying to insult you, do you actually read the updates? In the first, Guido wrote that the old gods, along with their household and entourage, including the psychopomps, like for example Valkyres, gave humanity a godly middle finger and left it to fend on its own. And the new gods are born of amalgated astral filth (emotional residue, dissolved souls, low-level astral beings torn apart, etc.) created by the War.

Everyone: How do you like the music? Doom jazz at its finest.

I knew I was talking too much ;) I'll refrain myself a bit, don't worry. This "unorthodox" side of Nazism has always been a bit of an enigma for me.

I read the updates, but it is sometimes I don't understand the half of it, but I am trying to. :eek:o

And I read it too fast.

So the person is living in twenties, yet he knows that Himmler and folks are doing something while Rose Luxemburg and folks are doing some other things.

Was Himmler a member of the party that early?

Along with the black sun will there be any mention of Black Projects and secret weapons? Antarctic expeditions? Searching for holy relics?

Great start...

Gruesome Occult tales are always welcome, what with Jape and Cthulthu's own tales seemingly dead, Yogi's Fu Saga is awfully lonely around here. Can't wait for to kick off. :)

The news of my AAR's death has been greatly over exaggerated. :D

This very promising AAR however, seems to have passed away. No chance of a reanimation Herbert? :p

:roumbles through the bits of notes, lab reports, and red bull bottles:

Uh, no, its not dead, but I am quite close to it.

I have about 4 weeks for:

6 exams
1 comprehensive exam of all the math i have studied so far
1 terminal
1 thesis paper

and some added uni stuff

So, as soon as either I or the Uni dies, I'm back on track, though I'm seriuosly considering rewriting this all. You see, if I keep myself to hisotrical limitations, the Black Sun will be but a very minor player. If I keep it ahisotrical but use hisotrical characters, it will be very lame. If I throw historical characters out of the window, it may be too unbeliveable.

But I intend to write this whole think much, much darker. Think Dark Tower-Lovecraft-Planescapes Negative Energy Plane type of dark.

You know what?

I'm going to put this on a vote. You have three options:

A, stay historical, limited involvment, behind the scenes, mostly court intrigue
B, ahistorical, much larger influence, more power, more perils
C, throw historical characters you the window and drench the whole story in primordial negativity

Though choice between B and C. Couldn't you go for a mix of them? Keep historical characters but let them do whatever you want them to do (as long as there is a rationale behind it of course) and mix in your own creations?

Yes. Thats a good idea actually. I think I'll stick with the Witchmaster&co, but color the world several shades more darker.

Please, do you want this to be a lame "baby's first, very bad book on occultism" kind of a thing? Apart from Thule, who have to be in the story, simply by the "grace" of being the german occult circle of their time, all of the above are very, very lame and superficial "occult" things that have been cliched to death and beyond more times that Saint-Germain had to change names.

In other words: Hell, no. Tbh I'd consider it quite insulting to the intelligence of my reader is I ever brought in UFO's and other such garbage.

This sotry will be about occultism. Hidden, concealed "supernatural" forces manipulating people amd those manipulating other people into doing things that further the goals of the manipulators, not nazi super spaceman flying Vril disk from Neuschwabenland piloted by nazi-made human-alien-monster-from-beyond hybrids. Save such refuse for the 10 dollars or less book stores and narced up conspirationsts, and Bloodrayne, thank you very much.

The Black Sun does ring a bell here, too. I think there might have been a book by Glen Meade which used it, but it might have been somebody else, too.

BTW, great concept and I would second a mix of B/C, too.

B its is, then.

Another quick necroing: how many of you know of the RPG called Wraith?
I am thinking of adopting some of its Otherworld concepts for, well ease of access to an already well defined and well written system on the lands beyond death. And also, what I had in mind was very similar to a Wraith/Plansescape mix, as it turned out. (Think Plane Of Negative Energy when referring to plansescape)

(The wiki article on the Umbra is very well written, so feel free to read up and throw in a yea/nay)

Of course, this could get cheesy, but I trust both myself and you, dear readers, to interpret nightmarish otherworlds as simply that, and not gayish "goth" fiction that 16 yer old Ann Rice target demogrpahic spews out.

Charon: the wiki article is good

Fapu
: meh, he looks funny. My characters will look at best sombre, at worst, inhuman.

:rubs hands in glee:
