So I got Voidborne, and have upgraded this Habitat to max, even built all eight Habitation Districts on it, yet it only has 4 building slots? Have they been nerfed badly or am I looking at a bug?

Thanks, but now I wonder what the Voidborne Perk actually does give you that is useful for you? Just having a habitat with pops that you can't offer jobs?

It only allows you to upgrade the Habitat, but doesn't add a single slot of building, so you end up with a huge habitat that can't offer jobs for its possible inhabitants. I must be missing something here? I noticed I could unlock 2 more for all planets using research, but what is the point of Voidborne itself?

I am 99% sure the dev wasn't talking about the voidborne buff specifically there. Yes they can't get the full 12 now, but they should still get the +2 from voidborne, which they currently do not in 3.0.1. Which should be a bug considering this line from the 3.0.0 patch notes.

* * Building Slots are now unlocked through expanding the infrastructure of a colony by constructing City, Hive, or Nexus Districts, by upgrading the capital building of the planet, or through civilian infrastructure technologies. (Note: Habitation Districts on habitats do not. Building slots can be acquired on habitats through the Voidborne Ascension Perk.) The Functional Architecture civic now also grants 1 building slot.

I found that if you click away, then back to the habitat, the additional two buildings are showing. I took 'Functional Architecture for +1 slot, voidborne +2 slots, and researched the next level of capital +1 slot, and Ceramo Metal Infrastructure +1 slot'
But in your screenshot you have 8 building slots? Habitat Central Control gives +4, Functional Architecture +1, Ceramo Metal Infrastructure +1, Tier 2 capital tech + 1. that's 7 building slots in addition to your capital building, which is then a total of 8. If voidborne was working it would be 10.

Nevermind, apparently when you pick voidborne it just modifies the text on the capital building to add an extra +2 making it +4, which I gotta say I don't like since because I hadn't looked at the tooltip of my habitat capital building until after picking voidborne i had no way to intuitively know whether the +4 displayed was a base value or with one with a modifier added from something else.

It's been confirmed as a Bug now so that's that then :) Just gotto wait for that first patch :)

The Voidborne Ascension Perk should be adding 2 additional building slot unlocks to your habitat capital building.

As a Void Dweller, the maximum possible (as I currently calculate it, I may have missed something) seems to be 10:
1: Base (filled by your capital building)
+2: Habitat Central Control
+2: Voidborne (Appears on the Capital Building)
+2: Ceramo-Steel and Durasteel Infrastructure techs
+1: Functional Architecture (civic)
+1: Adaptive Ecology (Adaptability tradition)
+1: Modular Superstructures (Prosperity tradition)

Not all of these (like Adaptive Ecology) are available to all empires, however. (And you may not want, say, the civic.)
