And After Action Report - of game 29 APRIL

SummonerPrime

You sure have many good points - i cant agree more.

But still i dont think its right to sign up for a game, with a timeline, wich is confirmed over and over aigen before start. Take over host, change house rules and leave.

Sure You are a good player, im sure you are, and maby a nice person to, but i still think it shoud be used as an example, and an advice to my self and all others, to look extra in the text, and to be sure what you anwser yes to, even when asked to confirm again.

I have no interests in destroying anything for you, not at all, why should i? My only point is that all serious players, should know what they sign up for, and if asked to confirm it, twice, and they do - i think it should be a reasonalbe thing to demand. A problem i think, when saying "yes",
"yes i have answered you on that allready", and then not live up to the agreement. Why just say Yes like that, and then just not care about it.

I can not understand why, im promising the players a serious game, how can i defend that one player just dropped out?
What shall i say to the other players?

Maby its a cultural thing you have over there in Amerika, im not used to it i know, and must admitt i got some disappointed. Im sorry for that. I still think you are a good player, and have no problems playing whit you or anyone else aigan, but i will request that if you play in "my" game, please think about the rules, the rules most probably all the other players there have requested, and agreed on. As host i cant defend somone to brake the rules, the rules all the other players have made, and all have agreed in before start.

I will apologize to the other players, that i could not stand by the guarantee i gave them. I will try to make the game better next time, and will do what i can, to make it more clear for the new players that send me request to join our games, what they actually are commiting them self to.

High Command is unreasonable

High Command -

I played for almost ten hours of straight - and Germany was in an amazing position when I left at 4am with 40 Pz divisions 50 Infantry, and 20 CS/Fgt airwings in '38. You even said how good I was and how you were going to learn from me... now all of a sudden since your mad I'm a poor player? Instead of just scheduling a time to continue with us you have to go off on this little temper-tantrum that I find very amusing.

As far as any conflict with Rommel, not many people like him because is foul-mouthed and obnoxious. Frankly, I could care less about that and don't have anything personal against him.

Regardless, it didn't have to be like this, we could have continued later after a break but you instead decided to go off... I think it just shows a lack of maturity on your part. I mean, common, I played ten hours straight and not fifteen hours straight so I'm the bad guy? It was 4 am and I was falling asleep at my desk. Most reasonable people would schedule a continue date.

You obviously are not a reasonable person and go out to destroy players reputations when you don't get what you want. Frankly, I think it's pathetic. What kind of game Nazi are you to demand fifteen hours from everyone that plays in these games? Grow up.

I'd also like to add that it took TEN HOURS to play two years of gametime from '36. There were severe lag issues with several players, but I still hung in there.

I have learned a valuable lesson however, to avoid you, your games, and these threads you post. You've turned a computer game that is supposed to be fun and relaxing, into some kind of strange fifteen hour obligation that is BEYOND ridiculous.

I know, right? I've been playing multiplayer games since the late 80's, and I have to tell you - I've never seen someone go off like this on someone else for ONLY playing TEN HOURS STRAIGHT.

I mean, why don't we all just quit our jobs, divorce our wifes, shave our heads and become HOI2 monks. That way, we can play 24/7 and make High Command a happy camper.

Well, if you have players on both sides of the Atlantic in the same game you are almost guaranteed to get lag.

The longest I've ever played HoI1/HoI2 MP is around 8 hours, so 10 hours is realy a long session (15 hours seems realy crazy). I guess you could play sessions of 12+ hours if you were doing it via LAN, since this is a lot more fun, you can chat with your opponents, eat dinner etc.

Btw any players in Stockholm that would be interested in doing a LAN game some time after the summer?

If you remember he actually hijacked our game. He hopped into our game and somehow talked all of us into playing another 36 scenario when we were already in mid 37 from our previous scenario!

Then when i dropped in the second game as Romania(Previously i was SU, go figure how that happened?!) i sat in the lobby for 15-20 min and no onc came out! Sweet! What a tremendous wase of time. The previous session took us about 2-3 hours. The new game with Highcommand another 2-3 before i dropped. What a great night of gaming!

High commander, hold others to the same standards that you hold yourself.

High Command,

I recommend in the future that if you have a particular issue with a specific member that you use the Private message options in this forum. If you are not familiar with that option click on the FAQ link right below the forum display.

All this banter about who did what and when and how out in the open only disillusions new players from participating in MP games.

Knowing all this stuff about the game you and the others participated in just makes me NOT want to play with anyone online.

Also what disturbs me as well is that you feel that you had to post your disappointments not only once, but in 2 separate threads.

Remember that this is only a game meant to be fun for those playing it.

My 2 cents

Corey

I apologize for missing this thread. Its pretty much identical to the other thread started by teh same user. I'm going to repost here what I posted there. Most of it is relevent. The portion pertaining to blacklists is not, however its always good to be aware of the policies.

From my previous post:

Gentlemen,

There are no blacklists on these forums. For forum veterans, this is not new. For those of you new to the Paradox Interactive forums, please let this serve as notice to you.

We have certain forum rules here, and I'd request that you go back through them for clarity.

Paradox Entertainment User Agreement and Forum Rules

The one that applies most in this instance is General Rule #3:

General Rule #3 said:
You will at all times respect and refrain from harassing and/or personally attacking other users or Paradox staff. (This means no blacklists.)

If you don't like to play with certain people in multiplayer, then don't play with them. Reputations are made over long periods of time. They can be destroyed in an instant.

Generally, situations like these can be avoided by setting out the rules for specific games in advance. You are more than welcome to use the forum to do those kinds of things. Things like who is playing what country, how long you will play, specific rules for the game (US can't DOW before 1941, no French human player, etc), and other general guidelines should all be set up beforehand to ensure that everybody playing is on the same page. Doing that will avoid situations like this.

Additionally, if you are concerned with people who want to play long term and who will agree to your rules, one solution that has worked very well in EU2 multiplayer is to avoid taking random VNET subs with names that you don't recognize from the forums. Tell them to register and post in the forum so there is some accountability on the part of players.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I wish you good luck and much future enjoyment in your MP experience.

Stonewall.
