I had reason to reinstall Stellaris. I saw that Steam also redownloaded the mods that I had subscribed to on the workshop. I went to the workshop directory on my computer (D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\281990) and verified that the mods had been downloaded to there (they had, 13GB of them). But when I launched Stellaris, it displayed the vanilla main menu screen (should have been from a mod) and when I started the game, the mods appeared to not be functioning.
I quit the game, started the launcher again and verified the installed mods. Only five mods verified, and when I went into the playlist the others were 'greyed' out. I quit the launcher again, launched it again. This time the playlist appeared to display all of the mods as installed. So I went into the "Manage All Mods" screen and again verified the mods. Again, only 5 were actually installed (the same five) and the playlist now again showed all the others as greyed out. I repeated this a few times.
I decided to unsubscribe and resubscribe from the mods, one by one, without launching the game in between. Once all the mods had been re-downloaded, I launched the game and encountered the same errors as in the paragraph above.
Finally, I unsubscribed from all mods. I then re-subscribed one at a time, launching the game between each mod subscription. This was extremely time-consuming, but has appeared to work.
This does make me wonder if I had been receiving mod updates in the past. Is there any solution to this?
