One thing that always got me in CK1 was the automatic reciprocation of traits like lover and enemy. In the love issue especially I can see lot of historical (and real-life) examples of one-sided love.

I think it would be interesting, if these traits appear in CK2, if they weren't always reciprocated. This could lead to some interesting events like:

"Your lover seems to have slept with another person. What is your response?
1. Even if /she sleeps with another person, I know s/he still really loves only me! (50% chance get trait Forgiving, 50% get trait Trusting )
2. Perhaps I need to reflect on our relationship... (50% chance lose trait Chaste/being in love, 25% chance depression)
3.That little ***** is trying to steal my man/ woman! (10% chance courtier X is assassinated, 75% chance of discovery)
4. S/He will pay... (50% chance get trait Vengeful, 50% gain trait Enemy)"

I think this could also play out with having someone hate you and you don't know why/ reciprocate. The events could lead to a small chance of reconciliation, chances of the hostile party to get stubborn and proud, and the highest chance of both becoming enemies.

I agree and I disagree. I agree with your point, but I disagree with the assumption that the friend/enemy trait meant anything other than reciprocated love/hate. It would be nice, though, to see one-sided emotions, though maybe these are better handled by traits. A trusting person might be the one who has many "friends" in their mind, but no one really takes seriously. A lustful man might fancy a relationship between him and a suitor, but it is really all in his own mind. The friend/enemy section was meant only to represent reciprocated feelings, so it is WAD.

I'd almost like to see friend/love separated, but it is no biggie. I don't like that someone cannot have a friend of the opposite gender without automatically loving them, plus it might be useful if homosexuality is going to play a role. Though I guess the homosexual traits covers that.

I'm with you on this one. If modern autocrats are any indication, many kings should believe that their subjects love them more than they actually do. As I understand it, there will not be any formal friends or rivals, so it might be trickier. The Duke of Aquitaine might hate the troubadour who holds the duchess's fascination, but the poor luteplayer has no clue that nasty things are in his future. Similarly, the king would likely have a different view of their relationship than the royal mistress does.

Perhaps this event could be fired by an enemt too who by spreading slander hopes to spread chaos to his rival's realm too... it could be a nice chain event. Imagine the case that the ruler believes the rumour and in a fit of rage executes his wife and her supposed lover but some time later his spymaster produces prof that it was only slander spread by enemies...
