This is certainly turning out to be a very interesting AAR, I wonder when, or if wars will break out between the factions?

One other thing, is there a link to where the software you used to generate the random countries could be obtained?

Wow, this is going to be difficult to follow (and just as difficult to play, I would imagine! ;) ).

How powerful is Asturias? Are they strong at all, due to their size, or weak despite it?

Ha! I was just going to say that handsome stretch of green from Southern California to South Texas. I just didn't recognize the Bulgarian accents they spoke with down there.

Wales owns it, its that giant country next to Galacia, they also own a chunk of (where it would be in real life) Mexico to my south.

I had planned on doing this earlier in the day, but I spent today with a hangover. So I'm not starting to type this post at 1am.

2

At the beginning of January 1938, the twenty year old Atlantic Treaty which had ended the last war expired. For twenty long years the world was at peace at an international level. However in many countries, liberty was sacrificed for the betterment of the whole. Nationalists took power. Communists took power. Some bloodless but several were bloody coups. Victor had a respect for those who had come to power by force however he was very careful around their diplomats. A determined group of fanatics was the most dangerous group of all.

Certain countries had already manuevered themselves into a position of either protection or looking to regain their lost territories.

Barely 3 days in and Asturias was already looking to reclaim it's continent from those that had declared independence from it many years ago.The foreign minister, Harold Jenney, spent the entire day running around in a panic, juggling ten phone calls all wanting information. The simple fact was that nothing had happened yet. There was no border for troops to amass along and so the only fighting that had been seen that entire week was a brief night skirmish between costal patrol boats.

Oppurtunity and fear began to spread. A new world war? Many considered it an impossibility after the disasterous consequences for many nations many years earlier. The alliances grew.

28hfxar.jpg

Victor ignored repeated attempts of the Macedonian ambassadors requests after the first meeting. Frequently he would be found sitting by the Prime Ministers office for the entire day. He was met with the same one word answer that Victor would say as he entered. "No"

v7gpib.jpg

For once the intelligence chief, Bennett Brasfield, who was now also convinced that there might be more sea than land, had acutally done something useful.

February brought more shocking news. However much like the situation in Africa, so far only the navy was at work.

11j4r42.jpg

In the eyes of fairness another country joined the Allies to make it balanced. However with countries like Gerogia and the People's Republic of Korea which were no more than city states on their side, the allies would need all the help they could get.

mre1yh.jpg

On February 12th 1938 crowds gathered at the naval base at Oxnard to witness the launching of two ships. Admiral Strozier did continue to sulk through the entire ceremony but conceded it was nice to have something that can shoot back for now. The launch was followed by a parade of the new crews and elements of the 4-ta Preslavska Pekhotna Divizija. The marched to cheering crowds who then followed the soldiers and sailors to the port in full view of the new ships. There Victor gave a speech.
"In my two years as Prime Minister we have-"
Nearby a group of soldiers stood to attention in dress uniform. Private Christopher Paladino was quickly becoming fed up with the whole event. The wind had picked up, as it often does on the ocean, and the cold January air was passing straight through his uniform. With barely moving a muscle he muttered to his comrades. "I thought he would be taller."
"I don't think that matters right now," replied his friend, Private John Davids, "If he does one of his long speechs, I'm going to take this bayonet and-"
"Will you two shut up!" hissed Sergeant Graves behind them. Afterwards he revoked their weekend passes for the next month.

Noirtier placed three documents on Victors desk. Beside him stood the foriegn Minister and the military leaders. Air Marshal Gwin did not appreciate being called away from a very lavish party he had been hosting. Lavish was how he would describe it. In reality it was mostly a debauched affair that often ended in an orgy. It was considered a failure of a party if someone didn't OD before sunrise. Gwin would have been replaced after the new fighters arrived but to everyones suprise he was infact the best candidate to lead the airforce. Victor read each document carefully. Noirtier did not entirely approve of some of the changes he had done and considering how Victor had taken power, it was a safe precaution.

He signed the first and had it sent to the ambassador.

He signed the second.

And his final signature on his orders.

Excerpts from the Diary of Private Paladino

February 16th 4:00

Here it is. War. I was at the spearhead of our advance into Livingstone. The border guards gave us no trouble and surrendered without a fight. Stunned would be an accurate description of their faces. One of them actually welcomed us as liberators. It was an hour before we encountered the first troops. We had stumbled into a divisional HQ. I awoke at around 10pm on the 14th, I've been up for 30 hours now. This is the first proper rest we've gotten all day. The fighting felt intense but very few of us died. Less than 10 most people are saying. There are injured of course, they'll be back soon. I don't know what the tactics of the enemy were but they proved to be fatal to those who followed their generals order. We'll be marching on College Station soon.

1zaule.jpg

My light tanks have sped through the undefended west and are the first to reach College Station. The entire ISR army is holed up in there.

2z6wku1.jpg

February 19th

We were ambushed this morning by remnants of the men we had fought a few days ago. My platoon had been moving through a small forest to clear it of any enemy activity. A hidden machine gun nest caught us by suprise and before we knew it eight of us were already down. He tried shooting at me but he was quickly distracted by Lieutenant Erichson. He was trying to flank them but they spotted him. He was a good man. I didn't see it happen, I took that oppurtunity to try and flank them myself. I took a grenade out, pulled the pin and charged them. I threw it in and dived for cover. I heard one of them shout and it was all over. When I looked over to check if any survived but only one man was still alive but not for long. He looked up giving me a long hard stare, never breaking eye contact as he coughed blood. Those were the first people I've killed for sure.

xf0q47.jpg

The only port they had access to was taken at the end of the fifth day of the war.

1zzhno6.jpg

No escape now!

2uzed5g.jpg

February 21st

We've joined the fighting on the outskirts of the capital. We've lost quite a few now. Every corner and every window brings a new threat. I'm starting to wonder when that bullet with my name on it will reach me. They already got Donaldson, Merrick and Haddad this morning. Our Sergeant Major was wounded an hour ago in a mortar attack. It looks like Segeant Graves will be filling his role.

333idlw.jpg

And now we have a slightly bigger ship with a slightly bigger gun!

2mess92.jpg

March 6th

The fightings almost over but I can't believe what I took part in today. I escorted an enemy Field Marshal, Kelvin Winstead to parle with Mjr. General Presley. He's quite tall but he hasn't been near a razor in a week nor has he changed his clothes in the same amount of time I think. The dust, cuts and bullet holes in his coat tell me he's on the front line like the rest of, what is left, the ISR army.

2larlua.jpg

2jbmtdw.jpg

op436t.jpg

March 7th
It's over. It looks like I'm going to be promoted and I've heard a rumour that I'm suggested to be awarded a medal for taking out the machine gun nest. It seems so long ago. That mans stare still makes me shudder.

With the war over, Victors policies weren't popular again.

The Axis dive straight in.

Bah Bulgaria is quite nice too.

Given the shape of the world after the first world war, I'm interested on how it would look after the second one!

Large countries tend to be unwieldy when everyone is starting with nothing. Also because its capital is in Greenland and has a suprising lack of IC and leadership.

Who knew the Italian Social Republic would be housed out of College Station?! :)

Good job in expanding, and getting a port on another sea.

It's odd seeing major countries declare war, and not knowing if it's a big deal or not, and perhaps small countries like Luxembourg are superpowers in this game. You can tell me who's declaring war, but in a way it doesn't tell me anything. What major countries or alliances are at war so far -- you mentioned Axis going to war, but where are they?

It's odd seeing major countries declare war, and not knowing if it's a big deal or not, and perhaps small countries like Luxembourg are superpowers in this game. You can tell me who's declaring war, but in a way it doesn't tell me anything. What major countries or alliances are at war so far -- you mentioned Axis going to war, but where are they?

Rensslaer

You are quite right, I shall rectify this before my next full session.

Where is everyone?

As I mentioned earlier, Armenia and Asturias don't share a border.

dw41mc.jpg

In parts of Spain and Morocco you can will Finland, still the only Comintern member. And Lithuania controls a large chunk of the Mediterrainian coastline but I believe it's a land locked country.

And here is the leader of the Axis. They share a border with Yugoslavia and Pakistan. You can cross from the Crimea to Communist China, they will be busy in the coming months. And they are at war with quite a few people now too.

vphn2t.jpg

Since it's mentioned that they are at war with the German Community of Belgium, here it is.

m7gyu9.jpg

Italy is largely owned by Sao Paulo, the "toe" is owned by Aaland who also owns the Aegian coast next to the GCoB.

And here is the leader or the allies. Northern Ireland was pointed out since it is at war with Communist China.

k1v0xf.jpg

As you can see it is Scotland will have difficulty this early in the game where the main focus for most countries were their land forces.

w99nop.jpg

And here is the confused area that I'm now "cleaning up". Ethiopia is allied to Bolivia, so that war might last longer, especially as Bolivia owns most of Mexico.

mif88y.jpg

Around where New York state is irl, there is a patch of countries where several are allied to Costa Rica. Hungary is still alone but Indonesia is allied to one of the countires allied with Costa Rica. There will have to be a large expansion before I head north.

March 8th 1938 - May 1st 1938

During a week of celebrations in the liberated territory, the majority Bulgarian population who had been treated poorly by their Italian masters exchanged places. Not before groups, armed with weaponry taken from the Italian armouries that had yet to have been secured, had been wandering the streets performing on the spot trials. Often the accused would be found guilty. Most were publicly humiliated but those known to have been members of the security and secret police were quickly put up against the wall. Victor called for these groups to be quickly disarmed and arrested if they had killed anyone. Many Italians were already heading for the port and the border of Ethiopia. Nobody stopped them.

Those that had been arrested, most were found guilty but the judges, often those who had also lived during the occupation gave leniant sentences. Three were sentenced to death, one had killed a Bulgarian soldier after refusing to disarm. The other two for the brutal torture of several victims of the reprisals. Martial law stayed in effect until late April.

During this time Victor was getting constant updates of the wars over seas. The invasion northwards was not going well for the Chinese. The alliance forces outnumbered them just enough to turn it into a long and bloody conflict.

Meanwhile a another country declared war, this time Savoy on their tiny neighbor, Kosovo.

Azerbaijan refused to allow Savoy to conquer Kosovo, however early signs indicated that Savoy was much stronger than them.

A major neighbour of Communist China, Austria, was clearly worried about the belligerent actions China was taking.

Not satisfied that the Pakistani and Yugoslav forces were already pushing them back, CC declared war on Tannu Tuva. This brought Austria into the war.

Over a month on from its invasion of Kosovo, Savoy had been unable to capture the capital of Dvinskoy, meanwhile Azerbaijan had underestimated its opponent.

Tannu Tuva was split in two.

It was now May and Kosovo was still holding out. Their national anthem blaring from loud speakers placed on the, now ruined, Palace of Congress non stop since the first bombs fell on the city.

Meanwhile Tannu Tuva was becoming less of a threat every day.

Prime Minister Victor stared up at the night sky in awe. It was a clear night and despite the many lanterns in the camp, he could still see a great many of them. He wandered about the camp alone, welll almost alone. Mr. Clarke as he was simply known, followed behind about ten metres away. A Victor felt that having a bodyguard in a military camp wasn't necessary but no matter how hard he pleaded, out ran or hid from Clarke; he was always quick to find him. It had been Noirtier's idea to employ Clarke as his bodyguard, which at first he agreed to but he was beginning to miss his privacy.

He found Field Marshal Draughn outside his tent smoking. He saluted as Victor approached.
"Not long now, eh?" Victor smiled. Draughn returned a weak smile. Looking at his watch he replied.
"About thirty minutes sir."
"You don't seem keen on what is about to take place."
"We are about to invade a country we don't have any sovereign claims on. We've only just finished one war and the plan after we have defeated them may not be entirely popular." Victor lit his own cigarrette and inhaled deeply before his answer.
"Go back far enough and Wales ruled over most of the Americas. Yes it still owns a large chunk but it is a dying empire. We can be quite certain that with the approaching chaos in the world that they will try to restore some of their former glory. Even though it was two hundred years ago that they last set foot in our land doesn't mean they haven't forgotten. Give them the chance and they'll be back. Go back further still and you'll see the north of Bolivia was ours. The claims are there and this time it will be different."
"Rebuilding the old Bulgaria is one thing but it is quite another to do it in this day and age."
"Perhaps... but no one is complaining. Right lets move to a more advantagous position, I would like to see the first shots of this next phase."

They moved to a mound that broke the flat surface that the camp occupied. At the top surrounded by sandbags and camoflage netting a group of soldiers lead by a captain were communicating via the newly acquired wireless machines that had been given to every unit. At the centre was a table with a detailed map of their local area.
"Well Captain, are your men ready?" Victor asked.
"Yes sir, we're just making sure the co-ordinates are accurate."
"Excellent, I missed this the last time and I would be glad to see our new firepower." He glanced at his watch. "Two minutes gentleman. I don't think they'll expect this." The time passed in silence, a runner was sent to give the final firing solution to two dozen artillery pieces stationed in their zone The captain moved into the light of a lantern that was placed just outside the sandbags. He raised his right hand into the air and looked at his watch on the left, counting down the seconds.
"I suggest you cover your ears sir." Draughn said quietly. Victor ignored the advice as he was to busy grinning like a child.

The captain's arm shot down.

it looks like the axis are gona lose their leader very soon, while the savonians look to be a new super power. lets hope ethiopia can be subjugated quickly before bolivia gets a chance to fully mobilise for an invasion
