Yesterday afternoon on the HBS BATTLETECH Unofficial DISCORD Server, a number of us were discussing the creation of a BATTLETECH Leaderboard based on Challonge Tournament Data.

Unfortunately there was no API data available from Challonge, so I crunched the data the old fashioned way... I had the intern do it. (lol, sorry. The intern was busy, so I did it myself.)

Tournament participation earned one Leaderboard "tic," as did each Tournament Win. Tournaments with more participants, afforded those participants the opportunity to earn more "tics."

I data-mined the 13 Tournaments listed here:
Valhalla ToC (https://challonge.com/BATTLETECH_VToC/participants)
S7 Med (https://challonge.com/SolarisVIIMediums)
JBM Tournament (https://challonge.com/atj1zf88/groups)
S7 Assaults (https://challonge.com/Assaults/standings)
Mech Medley (https://challonge.com/ijjbkxru/standings)
BBS Event (https://challonge.com/t9rg1eol)
Custom War Swiss (https://challonge.com/battletech_swiss_war/standings)
Reddit Custom Battle (https://challonge.com/battletech_reddit_may/standings)
S7 Lights (https://challonge.com/SolarisVII/standings)
Grimms Slugfest (https://challonge.com/g6pdv1du/standings)
Hendrick's Weekend Warrior 07-06 (https://challonge.com/6vjxylfm)
Hendricks Weekend Warrior 07-26 (https://challonge.com/nfcrtrro)
Weekend Warrior 2 (https://challonge.com/zx8vyo5g)

Based on this tournament data, here is the...

The BATTLETECH Top 50

Leaderboard 09SEP v4.png

Congratulations to one and ALL! : )

For the next iteration of the "Unofficial HBS BATTLETECH Tournament Leaderboard," I will be adding the results of the "Plague of Locust" Tournament as well as any of the results available from the Valhalla Tournament of Champions, Jerome Blake Memorial Tournament and Mech Medley Tournament FINALS that are scheduled in the days and weeks ahead.

All feedback is welcome.

And as ever good luck and good gaming!

If you notice another Challonge Tournament that should be considered for inclusion in this Leaderboard, please let me know in the thread below.

Thank you in advance.

I've played or watched a fair few of the other players on that list and there's a fair few I'd consider better than me, to be honest!

WilliamVonBillHelmHelmet, Koplin, Zakhoidt, Anaro, TheCallidus, R1H4, and Nurgle's_Herald are all more skillful players than I am, and a good dozen of the others are so close in ability that there is virtually nothing between us (I'd include you in that bracket, good sir!).

I think I just enter an awful lot of tournaments because I love the game :D

thank you for this prussian. a very good start to a hopefully bright future of the leaderboard. to be fair tho my ranking is only as high as it is because i havent played as many tournaments as the others. there are no doubt many who are far better than i. "bow"

Well said, Gentlemen.

Tournament Participation and Tournament Wins do count toward this particular Leaderboard.

A more inclusive Head-2-Head BATTLETECH Multi-player Leaderboard would require API Data that I just don't have access to.

So rather than lament that fact, I have moved forward with the bulk of data resident on Challonge's Website, across just as many tournaments as I have found that have already been completed or are in the final stages of being completed. Let me emohasize here that if anyone has a Challonge or non-Challonge Tournament that I have missed, please send its link my way. Thank you in advance.

I have no confidence in my MP skills but I enjoy watching.

If you even attempt to play Multiplayer, you are in the 1%

Allow me to quote Viper, from Top Gun:

- Gentlemen... You're the top one percent of all naval aviators.

The elite. The best of the best.

We'll make you better.

Come play! Join us on the Discord! Let us teach you! We can put your name on that list!

@Clever Fox, I taken your situation into account and crafted a BATTLETECH Lance Commander Academy that I have made a regular offering during our now weekly, 32-hour BATTLETECH Friday Night Fights Event.

Here is the current curriculum offered:

BATTLETECH 101 Lance Composition ~ explore tailoring a Lance to a desired play style
BATTLETECH 201 The BATTLETECH Stability System and YOU ~ mitigate against being Knocked Down, and explore tactics to Knock Down your opponent
BATTLETECH 301 Jump Cavalry: Fire and Mobility ~ BATTLETECH's TacSIM breaths Big and Stompy Life into Cavalry Tactics. Explore whether "Jump and Gun" is for you.
BATTLETECH 401 FULL UP COMPETITIVE GAME but with Talk-Through ~ we play an actual 20m Stock Match, but I'll freely provide an in-game running commentary and discussion of my Intentions, Tactics, Schemes of Maneuver and Combat Choices.

If you have and interest in any of that, but can't make it to the 32-hour Event on Friday just hit me up on the HBS BATTLETECH Unofficial Discord Server and we can run a quick 30-minute discussion and then drop.

I've tried to make it as straightforward as possible ~ all questions welcome!

As @Zakhodit mentions above, not only would the good gamers on discord help you get your name on that list, but let us help you realize how best to engage, Knockdown and CT-core any JESTER! : )

Prussian, thanks for taking the time to do this and awesome work my friend! I tend to agree with 23rdCypher's post way up above. There are many great commanders that play MP (including 23rd) that I'd consider better than me. And I also agree with his list. All of those mentioned commanders are great commanders that I know I have to be on my best game to have a chance to contend with them.

Not sure if it's possible with the available data, but maybe adding some kind of point system that gives points for making the final 4 or semi-finals. Like a 1/2 point to the 4 teams that make the semi's and then another 1/2 point for making the finals, with a final full point for a championship. That would help balance out getting points for just mass joining a bunch of tournaments. Or even maybe only giving a 1/2 point for joining a tournament. Or something similar to lessen the amount earned for joining.

Anyways, just throwing out some thoughts.

I've received gamer data from ISW League-play. This permitted me to capture a "Top 50" List of ISW gamers. With these two sets of data, I was able to combine the data for a "Top 100" List of BATTLETECH Multi-players.

From Tournament data, we have...

The BATTLETECH Tournament Top 50

Tournament ~ 14SEP.png

(*Tournament data from the Plague of Locusts Tourney has been added, Valhalla's Tournament of Champions FINALE and the Jerome Black Memorial Tournament results have been included above.)

From ISW data, we have...

The BATTLETECH ISW Top 50

ISW ~ 14 SEP.png

Combining data from both above Lists, we get the...

The BATTLETECH Multi-player Top 50
Multiplayer 1 ~ 14SEP.png
Multiplayer 2 ~ 14SEP.png

Any and all constructive criticisms, comments and qestions are welcome.

And as ever, good luck and good gaming!

Pinned.

As time permits over the next day or so, I will updating all three BATTLETECH Unofficial Leaderboards (Tournament, ISW and Multiplayer Combined.)

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE provide a link to any Challonge tournament finals held over the last 2-weeks, so I can account for these results in the above Leaderboards. I already have updated ISW information.

More to follow...

6 October Leaderboards are attached below.

From Tournament Results, we have...
