Hey fellas.

So lately i have been using the unlanded mod for CK3 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2783621178

I started with Rollo. I joined a mercenary group and fought mostly in Russia. After a couple of years i joined the Varangian Guard for Basil. Basil was very agressive in his campaigns so i had a lot of kills. I even killed a very powerful Emir. After i earned a lot of prestige by, well killing people i clicked the "Start forging"decision and my good friend Basil paid me to go on an Adventure. I finished that for him and got myself a ton of gold where i bought my own property. In the meantime i found a beautiful greek woman and fell in love. We married and had some pretty cool kids. After decades serving Basil, Rollo decided to go back to Scandinavia. I went to the Jarldom of Jylland where i challenged the current Jarl to single combat. Of course the mighy Rollo destroyed him and became the new Jarl. From here i played normally and after a couple of years of rebuilding and gathering support i decided to invade Frankia! No suprise again i conqured Normandy and established the Norman culture. My son married Alfreds daughter and now i'm waiting for my grandson to become the next William the conqueror.

The mod is a bit buggy because the game doesn't support unlanded gameplay so every time i had to load the save and switch to Rollo (Isn't that bad). And you can only pass a day by day on Pause by clicking F11 (again not the worst thing but gets tough on the finger)

So here i ask Paradox if they could try to relax the restriction that plague unlanded gameplay a bit. If it's even possible because hot damn this was the most fun i had in a long time.

I’m personally pretty dead set against unlanded play at the moment. I‘m pretty sure the assumption of being landed/titled in some way is pretty deeply baked into the game and while it’s cool that modders can figure out work arounds, I don’t know that I want to see such fundamental changes.

But if you’re interested in a game (well, game series) that supports unlanded play, Romance of the Three Kingdoms lets you play as a ronin/free officer in several installments. I believe the most recent one that does this is XIII, but I know for sure it’s in VII and VIII.

Royal court offered perfect chance to add unlanded with how many court titles can only go to courtiers

Oh yeah i kove all 3K games. It's pretty fun playing as a ronin.

I see it as if they can make it work great if they can't no harm dond. Wish there was more modding support in that area tho

I wouldn’t say that Royal Court offered a perfect chance. I think the way the game is codded assumes that you the player have a landed title, and I don’t think any of the minor titles added in RC warranted the work to cut out that assumption.

But that’s getting way too deep into how the game works for my smooth brain, so I may be wrong.

I love the debate duels in VII. They’re so extra. I haven’t played XIII yet; it’s sitting in my steam, waiting for me.

re: modding support, I don’t know if they’ll ever add more support. I imagine it depends on how deeply embedded into the game landedness is. It may be the case that trying to add support for that style of gameplay would cause unintended bugs.

Court positions increases plot power vs a ruler, they also give you monthly income in money and prestige. Ck3 already has an event where a wealthy ruler can ask for a single county you hold so his spare son will inherit land, retooling this for courtiers wouldn't be that much more. Famous Knight on the border can also be a random courtier landed, which could happen anytime you as a knight in your lord's army do well

It has been done. My courtiers, including knights, keep asking me for titles.

Considering the implementation of court as is, I am not that optimistic. My vassal wants to be my bodyguard via court event but the game will not let her.
