I will love to see more units, models i mean, variations of the tiger or even more, löwe instead of the maus, maybe like secret projects see light (those on blueprints, which were not developed), railguns, stuff like that. :D
I know it is to much to ask, but i felt it this way.

Luck. :D

The fact that you don't have models doesn't mean you don't have Tigers, Panthers or T-34 in the game.

Divisions won't have model-names like in HoI2, but your divisions will be equipped with weaponsystems which will have historical names.

Actually I think you'll see far, far more actual weapon models ingame (Johan's example of an infantry brigade's rifles (Kar98k) being upgraded seems particularly relevant - just imagine your Panzer brigades going through Pz I,II,III,IV,V,VI, & VII as the years go by). It's just the division/brigade won't be renamed according to the new weapons they carry, as they were (albeit in a different way) in HOI2.

how will that work though. will americans and germans with the garand at semi-auto and the mauser with extreme accuracy have inherited bonuses. will they also have uber planes (P38, F6F, P51D, FW190, BF190, Me262). will the germans have super tanks and the russians have steel plates that roll out of the factory every 5 seconds? im worried that nations will be naturally stronger and limit the abstractness of the game which is more about leading a nation in the 1940s than fighting ww2 (not that theres much difference but lets say poland conquers germany-AAR section, wpolaski or whatever).

All weapons have their weaknesses and strengths. But I'm 100% certain that there will be no huge accurate database over weapons.
Basically I'm quite certain it will work like this:
Basic infantry rifle: "Kar 98k" "Springfield 1903"
Advanced infantry rifle: "G43" "Garand M1"
Basic assault rifle: "stg45" "Garand M14"

Yeah I can't imagine them actually including a weapon list that was anywhere near complete. I think the first task for modders might be developing weapon lists for minors, which will probably be some sort of generic list in the vanilla game.

Most of them probably didn't have their own weapons but does it matter that much? Both basic rifles will most likely have identical stats. I would expect them to have complete for all european and larger minors but I doubt any significant time will be spent on Costa Rica.

Of course it doesn't matter. But I'm sure some folks who inhabit those minor nations will get together and make a mod. Increasing the detail of the minors is almost always a goal of the earliest mods.
I sure won't be helping, I'm just saying someone will probably make that their mission.

Did you play HoI 1? In the first installment of this series, there were no models. Instead, you built the equivalent after researching the appropriate techs. So to build a tank division, you would just build it regardless of year. Its cost and buildtime would be based on the techs that you had finished researching. If you had an advanced tank with a 75mm gun, sloped armor, advanced engine, suspension and gear, you had what would be equivalent to a lvl 5 tank in HoI2, or a Panther, T-34/85, Sherman M4A3E8, etc. So in essence the models will still be there, but you can have dozens of them instead of seven.
