Unitnames

I know its not big thing and not many are intressed, but I am and thats enough.

I would like to see more unitnames for major countries like USA, USSR, Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain and Japan.

I am tired on that it changes names to default english when there is no more unit names.
Its same to me are they real that has those named divisions or ships or airdivisions been used but I would like to see more of them in each of these countries native language. Also as we all know USA and Great Britain use english for them I just like more unit names because ship names end pretty soon for some and some reason I can't stand just those by default things what comes when unit names end.

So my idea is that could someone make more them or something.. Yeah I know this sounds really stupid but still.

You could make them yourself, you know. Just open the unitnames.csv in db folder and start adding new names there.

But be careful--that file can only be so big before it prevents the game from loading. Choose you additions wisely.

Good point, I forgot to point that out. Personally I always eliminate few dozen lines from for example German motorised divisions to free up space for more infantry.

Out of curiosity, how big is to big in this case ?

Yeah, I would do it myself but I don't know language enough to make it good enough for me.

I'd swear I've seen people report this error here at least a couple of times.

68914 that is exacly line limit in unitnames.csv. If you have have more names in that file all above limit won't be loaded.

Totally wrong. That's the Excel line limit.

My unitnames file has nearly 100,000 lines and works like a charm.

Mabey that is excel line limit. But how did you add more unit names than that limit? I tried notepad but it does not work, limit is still 68914 lines.

Use a better text editor, like EmEditor or WordPad Plus.

It isn't the Excel limit, it is the Microsoft limit, so Notepad, Wordpad and Excel will have truncate the file to that size. Try using another text editor, I use Notepad++

So there is no actual limit to the file size (from game engine PoV), it's just about if the text editor can handle it or not? Good to know.
