This doesn't seem to work on the 1914 scenario

So I added; include = "db\unitnames.csv" in the .eug file and get this message

ERROR: (missing = in statement.) 'ANH = ('line = 2 file = db/unitnames.csv ---
Anyone know why it doesn't work and why line 2 is corrupt?

here is line two

I didn't, I added it to the db file, Then because it had no effect, I moved it onto the eug file.

I also notice that France has major errors on the list, For example.

Are you talking about FLA, Flanders, or FRA, France?

don't add the line "include = db\unitnames.csv", since it's always in every scenario I think.

I can't remember what the oringinal name was for the file now, Was it Unit_Names or like this download, Unitnames?

An do you know where the scenario gets the information to include the unit names wihtout it being in the .eug file? Is it hardcoded into the .exe by any chance?

Unitnames. And not even VIP has included it in the .EUG file so it's hardcoded.

República de California

A note on the names: d'Anjou, Bartlett, and Bosc were the ringleaders of the group of Californian settlers that demanded the Mexican governor of California give up the area to them. Since they are the real leaders of California's first small baby steps to California's independence, it's only logical that they'd be the commanders of any army California would have raised, if it had remained independent.

Think of Bartlett as the Californian Sam Houston, actually. :)

California is a lot like Texas, but the Bartlett, Bosc, & d'Anjou thing was a hoax. It's a toss-up. Right now, an indy California would come from the yanqui Bear Flag Revolt, but that was a non-starter. The US Pacific Fleet had orders to immediately annex the province in situations like that, which is what happened.

The real opportunity for Californian independence was in (of all years) 1836. They stormed the capital, held it, couldn't've been repulsed for months if ever, and had a flag ready to raise... They just never did: the victor chose to voluntarily submit himself to Mexico in exchange for being recognized as governor and was promptly betrayed. But then he whipped the army of the guy sent to replace him, showing the revolution would've worked. If he'd had sense, he would've stayed independent and negotiated with the Americans and British to keep pressure on a Mexico already humiliated over Texas.

It's not currently available & should only apply to the north (the south around LA was unionist,) but we can mod it in. The heroes of that revolution would've been J.B. Alvarado, Isaac Graham, and Jose Castro. Castro and Alvarado had even been mentored by the same British tutor, so there's a built in backstory for the ATL.

Anyway, units thread's here. Land forces here, navy here.

Eh... since the format given in this thread isn't Ricky's, shouldn't that be labeled and some new sticky thread replace this one, with the units redone?

Has anyone done something similar already?

Papal States

Historic units.

Less the Zuavi Pontifici which (misspelled & anachronistically) appears at game start.
Less the small South German POP Rome needs to levy a decent Swiss Guard. ;)

Plus 500 RF (Reggimento Fanteria) for easy CTRL+H replacement into RC (Reggimento Cavalleria), RD (Reggimento Dragoni), and RM (Reggimento Milizia.)

First set includes Xian-friendly, legion-based names & replaces the decommissioned ignominious XVII, XVIII, and XIX legions with grenadiers, mountaineers, and sharpshooters.

Fwiw, the modern Italian usage is 1º, 2º, 3º-style ordinals for Reggimenti and I, II, III-style ordinals for Gruppi and Battaglioni. Otoh, the in-game presentation of 1º and 1o are both pretty ugly & presumably a militaristic Rome would be taking some cues from its predecessor.
