So the whole religion theme has reminded me of an idea that I had thought up of and found neat and then suppressed. The idea is that there should be a potential mechanic to unite the three abrahamic faiths. It could have similar requirements as mending the schism, just on a much larger scale. Maybe to begin to unite the faiths you must control the holy sites of every single abrahamic faith. Then to actually be successful I would say the person attempting it would have to have very high theology, diplomacy, and intrigue, or at least advisors with very high of those stats, as well as high prestige and piety. The thought is if someone has managed to conquer that far and is a hugely respected ruler they might be able to unite the three faiths. By no means should it be easy but it would be a very interesting challenge if added in.

There already is this option. It is eradicating the other two...

Seriously though, there is no theological ground for this in reality. Furthermore it makes little sense; people believing the Messiah still needs to come (Jews), people believing the Messiah already came (Christians) and people believing said person wasn't the Messiah but after their prophet no further prophet will come (Muslims) have inherently incompatible ideas. Accepting a different truth is more like converting than a mending of anything. And that's just one simplic example.

So although the fact they are all 'people of the book' might imply this to make sense, in my opinion you might as well make an event to syncretize Jesus with the Buddha and call that a unification of the faiths.

Little correction. Jesus in Islam IS a Messiah.

Doesn't mean that a new religion couldn't be created, with aspects from all three.

Personally, with the new reformation mechanics, I'd like an entire custom religion thing to be in the game anyway.

Unless I'm very much mistaking he is a prophet in Islam, not the Messiah.

This is true, though that doesn't negate my point that from a narrative point of view it then doesn't really matter what religions you are syncretizing.

Since Islam is has Aspects of all three it would be a little redundant;)

The only way to "unite" the Abrahamic faiths, is by converting every single province to your own faith, whichever of the Abrahamic ones you pick. It's more plausible to unite the Christians by converting every single provinces' religion to your own branch, although the name Catholic does mean universal, and Orthodox implies correct beliefs by name. I think that if Chalcedonian Christianity were ever added as a Christian branch, by that name, representing the pre-Catholic-Orthodox split, it would be the most honest depiction of uniting the Abrahamic faiths.
