Uniting Germany as Austria.

Hi,

I have just won the 1866 war as Austria, annexed Silesia, Prussia has been massively reduced and is now pretty insignificant and the SGF has annexed all the German minors and I have gained the federal fortresses along the French border.

I'm guessing I'll get a war with France fairly soon but would like to know when this will occur, and will it allow me to annex the SGF and the remnant Prusisia?

Also, in winning the 1866 war, have I lost all chances of gaining Hungarian as a state culture as I won't get the Dual Monarchy event now. Finally, will I ever gain North German as a culture? I'm going to have a vast German population that I'm going to be unable to do much with if not.

Yes to all. French war will be as normal, IIRC (maybe 1868, can't remember exactly). There is a thread somewhere around here about it all.

By the way, a brief look through the Austrian VIP event files the only opportunity for a scripted war with France appears to be the Luxembourg Crisis, which would put 1868 as the right date for a war with France. Of course, I may well be mistaken..

Yes you can't get Hungarian if you form Grossdeutchland. France is also the one to declare on our, IIRC.

One (hopefully) last question - the war has started and I have taken Paris, yet no peace event has occured, do you know how I win this war? I've held Paris for a couple of months and nothing has happened. If it is of consequence I don't hold Metz, Strassburg or Mulhaus and the French have occupied a few border provinces.

Probably a very stupid question, but how did you find that thread? I can only find enough threads in this sub forum to fill 1 and a half pages and that thread isn't one of them.

TBH, I think that event line with Hungary leaving could be reworked. I never saw it coming and could only imagine the Emperor's response:
"What? My prized steamer factories in Balaton are held by Hungarians? EVERYONE GET OUT! " :rofl:

All in all, its kind of a poorly thought out event. There at least should had been a choice between creating a personal union, which I assume the satillete thing is supposed to represent, or going for a Mittel-Europa approach.

At the bottom select to view threads from the beginning as opposed to the last month (or whatever your default is).

We are planning on reworking the German unification chains, with Grossosterreich being an alternative for Austria.

Tbh, I thought it was a pretty well written event, you have to make the choice between losing a huge portion of your empire or gaining the Czech culture... Just my thoughts

Btw, will I still get all the events that a Prussian-unified Germany would get? Also, is there any way to reduce my BB through events? I haven't got the Germany Proclaims Peaceful Intentions or whatever which I think reduces BB.

Yes, you will get all of the normal German events except the culture war events.
