hi all, I'm planning to do an USCA AAR.
The game is HoI 2 doomsday armageddon and I will play as guatemala, which stands for the USCA.

I'm starting from an exported game from victoria, so don't expect to see a familiar world.

anyhow, first update (sketching our country's possibilities) is for tonight

greetz,

héhéh got your inspiration from the Vicky AAR :)

Good luck with it.

ok, first update:
The miraculous survival.
The united states of central America were founded in 1823, by a bunch of liberals who thought these lands could become rich by trading. At the time, these liberals had high hopes of becoming a rich federal republic, as shown by the USA. However, the country for some reason lacked the unity their neighbors were blessed with.

This was clearly shown from as early as 1838, when several severe uprisings broke out in the northernmost and southernmost provinces of the country. This was an example soon to be followed by many people, so rebellions rose up all over the country. This made the government have his hands full, keeping the rebels oppressed, while all the same trying to get a free market economy to grow.
During these rebellions, the first capitalists settled themselves in the country, and started building factories. It may be clear that they had a hard time, but the state offered them some help, and in return the capitalists supported the liberal government.
Eventually, to get people to understand their government, the idea of universal suffrage was accepted by the government. And though it seemed the people lacked unity, they did vote for a president that united them under one banner. A reactionary government survived the rebellions and the nation was peaceful once again.
As the industry was built up, science also became very important, and soon central America became the second industrial nation in America, only to be preceded by the USA, their example. This industrialization also brought the need of resources, so a program of colonization was started, with priorities for tropical wood, which was found in new guinea. The rest of the raw resources had to be imported, which posed no real problem, as money was plentiful at the time.

It must be noted that on their way to new guinea, central American settlers also colonized a couple of pacific islands.

The expansion
At around 1900, the economy of central America was on track and imperialism was introduced in central America. It became clear that central America was locked between two powers with greater military strength. So lots of research went into the army, and soon, central American armies, though not not being quantitively superior, were of great qualitative strength, with an artillery brigade for every two infantry divisions. Central American armies also were the first to use gasses in combat, an advantage which gave them a crushing victory in the first Mexican war, winning us a great part of Yucatan.
More important, the first Mexican War was a test of the military strength of the central American republic. Out of this test, the generals concluded that our southern neighbor, Colombia, was ripe for harvesting. War was declared in April 1913, and in a mere two months, central American armies walked among the streets of bogota, so Colombian government offered a lucrative peace deal, which would give us the panama area, along with a great deal of central and western Colombia.
At this time, the central American military didn’t have the strength to defend more land than it already had, so when revanchist Mexicans declared war on the republic in 1918 and in 1927, a defensive policy was followed, staying behind the mountain forts of the los altos area. This ensured very low casualty rates for the republic, while costing mexico half of their population in the repeated attacks.
For Colombia, the case was different, with our armies in camps near bogota, an aggressive defence strategy was developed, so when the alliance of Colombia and equador declared war on the republic, the army reacted with a march on their capitols, seizing them fast, and then waiting for a good peace deal, which gave us the rest of Colombia and a large chunk of equador.
We now had a land border with brazil, a dangerous player in south America, so a defensive position was designed fast. The test of this position came in 1928, when Brazilian troops raced across the jungle, only to be massacred by our artillery. Again, we endured very little casualties.
In the early 1930’s, an uneasy peace came along, and the borders in 1936 were the same as those in 1930, and here they are:

The main problem
So in 1936, central american republic was a colonial power, but had overstretched its borders. This became especially clear when the government evaluated the strategy for the late 1930’s.
The republic had no real allies, had decent, though not top ranked researchers. These were things the government could cope with. The main problem however was that they had no means whatsoever to protect their precious colonies. And even though, with synthetic materials invented, the resources coming from them were less important, they could not afford to lose their overseas possessions.
However when they reviewed the navy, they found out it was nonexistent, our only warship was a monitor, and this was not even seaworthy anymore. And the two squadrons of transport couldn’t sink a stone, let alone a warship. So it was clear a navy was needed sorely. However, there was a small problem, this:

It was clear that some investment had to be made in this area, so research on light cruiser was started immediately, along with research of semi-motorized cavalry and improved machine tools.
Our military-industrial complex needed a task too, so until a navy could be build, their effort was directed onto issuing newer weapons to our infantry, while at the same time, they were producing just enough consumer goods to keep the people from revolting and just enough supplies to keep our armies from starving

A nice quick setting of the scene. Should be fun.

well, this is kind of an experiment of mine, as you'll see in tomorrows update, the world is really screwed. No real alliances are in place, strength of countries is completely inpredictable, IC is in strange places.

in short, due to the conversion from vicky, this should prove quite an interesting AAR for me too

The surviving great powers

ok, I'm continuing this... Here it goes:

In 1936, the world was recovering from almost a century of bloody fights, not only between nations, but also among civilians. we saw clashes of theologic origin, where catholics fought muslims, or muslims fought buddhists, or buddhists fought confucianists, and so on. But there were also the great clashes of the 19th century, mostly on economic grounds, some on political grounds. We saw liberal revolutions spring up, we saw socialist revolutions spring up, and while the first were rather succesful, the second were not and the surviving communist nations were very scarce and hardly selfsustaining.
Another particular case however were the nationalist revolutions, which during the 19th century showed a massive rate of succes. We saw an independent greece, an independent belgium, an unified italy, an unified germany and an unified scandinavia. The only places where foul extreme nationalists did not succeed were poland, the balkans and, our very own USCA.
However, some states managed to come out of this particularly bloody age with an industrial basis, so large they will need to expand to make sure they have the resources to operate their industries. and here they are

Not much remarkable there, but as can be seen, there is a huge gap between the top 4, having more than 200 base IC, and the rest, with france leading the 'losers'. It is clear that kaiserreich germany still stands, but without the large industrial base of their prime antagonists in this story.

hm, indeed, this is a conversion from victoria. And I don't know what happened with finland, but I think their country is divided between scandinavia and russia, but I'll have to check that...

In tonight's update, we'll take a look at the great alliances, and we see the first action coming up, and it will be very exciting as two nations clash over some border dispute, yes indeed...

Major Alliances

After the turbulent 19th century, three major alliances came up. in contrary to popular beliefs, these could not be divided into three categories (fascist, democracy, communist). Instead, they could be divided into three other categories, having in common their geographical state.
thealliancespv8.jpg

The first one is the American Axis, or at least the seed of the american axis, as the only member now is the USA. USCA government believes their goal is domination of the American continent, so the government could try to join the AA and go for co-domination. However, to achieve that goal, we should first normalise our relationship with them, as they seem to hate us because of our expansionist policy of the early 20th century.

The second major alliance are the commonwealth allies, led by the UK. only recently have we seen internal struggles in this alliance, as on the 10th of january 1936 australia decided to leave the allies and go for its own goals. As an assembly of countries with different political views, the USCA thinks this alliance will not survive a war unless led by a strong UK military.

The third major alliance is the comintern, standing for comité for international independence and being led by russia. The alliance currently consists of russia and romania. The alliance was instated as an organisation with the goal of freeing as much balkan nations from their ottoman or austrian oppressors. However, this was not very succesful as greece and serbia did not wish to join after liberation, while the rest of the balkans remain in the hands of their oppressors.

As you see, to grow our nation should try to (ab)use the struggles between these alliances as much as possible. However, to do this, we first need to convince the world that we are not the bad guys. At this moment there is not a single government who likes us, though some are neutral...

now for a competition: the first one to guess the government ideology of the US gets an USCA iron cross second class to put in his signature:d
