Another question: Say all my divs are Inf '18, but I have the technology required for Inf '39. 10% of my divs are prioritized. No wars - no units in battles. Which will happen:

1. Prioritized divs go '18 to '36, then unprio divs do the same, then prio divs go '36 to '39, followed by the unprio divs.

2. Prio divs go '18 to '36, then '36 to '39, then unprio go '18 to '36 to '39.

3. A little bit of both (1) & (2), that is, prio '36 go '39 at same time as unprio go '18 to '36.

Any ideas, anybody?

3. well if you have enough IC dedicated to upgrades the prioritized units will go to max model and any excess IC will go to the rest.

will L Arm divisions upgrade to Arm divisions? or will the light armoured divisions stay light armoured for the rest of the time period and you'll have to build new medium armoured divisions?

In my current 1936 campaign as Germany, I noticed my Pz.II light tanks being automatically upgraded to Pz.III medium tanks as soon as I had finished researching Basic Medium Tanks, so I guess that is an answer to your question. But I can still build light tanks, which is kind of funny since they will automatically become upgraded to medium tanks whenever I allocate IC to upgrading, so I guess building them is moot.

Well if you'd set up a long serial build and had sliders giving you a large gearing bonus and cheaper upgrades (*coughUSAcough*) it might work out cheaper to keep building IMP L ARM and upgrading them.

If on the other hand you are a nation like Germany who is more likely to go towards central planning, which gives more IC but more expensive upgrades, standing army, which reduces the gearing bonus, and hawk lobby, which makes units cheaper, then it's better to just build the latest models.

Thanks Darkrenown, that clears it up a little. So many choices, my head is spinning! :)
