I highly disagree with this, it was the only way I could keep things balanced when fighting Nationalist China as Communist China and it is historical considering that the SU and ComChi were never allied until 1949, but nevertheless the SU did provide troops and supples.

I wish to know how to undo it please I highly respect paradox for their work but deactivating this is just plain moronic. it was to my mind the best feature in Hoi2 since it allows a large nation to aid smaller ones without interfearing on their behalf. After all how did Germany supply troops to Spain without being allies? I see no reason to be concerned with game balance since the opposition could just supply an equal number of troops and an honor system could be established not to send 50 divisions.

He means that only nations allied to each other can trade units sucks. And i completely agree. Its not realistic. When i heard that in doomsday u can trade units with other nations, i decided to help any nations that are in war with my rivals, without declaring war of course. Its stupid that only allies can trade units with each other and i really ask you (paradox guys) to change it.

Eh? You can still give away units to whomever you want. You just can't open up the trade list of your worst enemy, one day before war, and look at their entire order of battle. I don't understand people's problems with the 1.1 system.

I think that you should only be able to sell front line units to your allies; but that you should be able to sell your obsolete equipment to anyone.

Quite difficult of course for the game to define "front-line" and "obsolete".

But why? Germany historically sold large quantities of sophisticated equipment to Hungary , for example. Same goes for USSR rebuilding the armies of its newly-created European puppets after the war.

whoops, appears I hadn't realized I could GIVE units even if I couldnt ask for them.

And I played as ComChi again in 1.1 and still beat nationalist China even without the extra 5 or so russian divisions...

I geuss this makes more sense, sorry I hadn't realized it. In Multiplayer play this works great since the units could still be traded back and forth even if unallied. The issue is that in Sinple player it sucks if your a smaller country like Communist China and would have to go through all the effort of saving, reloading as russia, giving the units and then saving reloading as China. Before I could just "cheat" give myself 5000+ supplies and trade for a reasonable number of division 5-6 in total under the assumption if SU was a human he would give me those supplies and units.

Is there anyway to script an event that forces the ai to do the trade and give away units?

Wow!

I've been hiding for a few months but was surprised to see these threads on selling/giving units. Sounds amazing. Us good old tommies gave the SU stacks of tanks (ours were crap of course but hey...) and Hurricanes in WWII so I'll give that a go later.

Strikes me that the games' got it just about right in terms of do's and don'ts.

You know, there is a way to change this from "trading units to allies only" to "trading units to damn well everyone I want to." Go to the misc file. There is a line there that dictates this. I stumbled across it the first day I started playing DD.

well you CAN trade TO whoever you want to, the issue is that in Single Player you can't trade BACK to you.

in 1.0 I as ComChi 1945/46 traded 5000 supplies 1000 oil for 3 Infantry Divisions. And I did this a couple more times before changing to 1.1

in 1.1 I couldn't do it but now I remember OI still GIVE troops to the Soviet Union so technically if SU was human they could GIVE them to me.

So I geuss it really doesnt matter for as long as its a multiplayer game.
