Hey,

So far, I'm liking how Victoria 2 is shaping out! Hopefully, Paradox can do a good job and release the game with some good graces this time. However, there is one key issue that makes me cringe.

That is the unit models in the game.

No, I mean they look good, from what I've seen, but in all fairness, it just "wouldn't feel right" playing up to 1936 and still using traditional cavalry and 19th century muskets.

So, this is more to clarify on whats happening with the models. Is there anyway Paradox can get an artist or two and create a few late game unit models? Maybe some WW1 era looking troops?

Also I'd love to see different ethnic groups portrayed more accurately via models. Such as Zulu spearmen, etc.

But anyway, just thought I'd bring it up. Otherwise, keep up the good work folks!

Certainly no game breaker, but you're right. It seemed a little strange to see Redcoats milling around in 1930. I'd say earlier, but the French and British didn't adopt camouflage (khaki, grey etc.) uniforms until they realised that their colourful troops were easy targets for German marksmen and machine guns, and that was in the first year of WWI.

Doesn't seem like a big problem, as in EU the sprites change as you "evolve" your forces. My guess is that they will do the same in V2. Depending on how they handle reseach and inventions as stuff like that.

Well my ultimate "dream" would be to have 3 sets of sprite types. The first being the usual red coats and Napoleonic uniforms. By the time the 1860s - 1900s roll around, uniforms change to British colonial uniforms and of that ilk. And obviously 1914 - 1936 its the WWI gear.

I'm thinking based on the unit changes in Imperialism. But just some WWI uniforms for the 20th century would be great.

Yeah the evolved idea I like! I think definitely it needs to be based on the EUIII system.

I'd be happy with just two levels of sprite to be honest, one redcoat-like one and one WW1-like one.
Country-specific sprites would be awesome though, like in the original HOI1, different "families" of graphical styles.

Yeah, but which British colonial uniforms? They were obviously different from colony to colony.

I was thinking this:

Its Boer War style and I thought it was good.
