Since we're not able to mod units and some mods cannot provide proper game experience without this ability I wanted to propose another solution (idea comes from Isinfier):

Is there no way of depicting the units as just a banner, with a sword/bow/sabre/etc crossed behind it to indicate the majority of units? It seems a shame that you can't fiddle with the models that much otherwise. Might be worth chucking a post in Meneth's thread if it hasn't been done already.

To my best knowledge there is none.
However I would be very easy for paradox to create a banner like structure to be the placeholder for unit model that cannot be properly represented in game (orcs, elves, dwarves, sci-fi units, dragons, guys with rifles etc.)
This would be a matter of creation of non-animated super simple mesh with super simple texture.
Since retexturing is perfectly possible this gives a lot of to modders. Also the banners itself would as neutral as possible to ensure broad application.
Extra version would contain a possibility to attach some shield and weapons (banners with shields and crossed pair of weapons on it).

It veeery unlikely paradox will ever add any possibility to mod unit models. However maybe if modder community would approve the idea they could add those banner placeholders - beacuse the final cost of adding them would be marginal.

I'm curious what the rest of modding community think about that idea. I'm strongly for it since it is only way to introduce proper "units" for Warhammer mod we are making.

Captain Gars what say you, is this possible?
