Has anything changed in the unit experience rates or is it more noticeable with the gold stars for each 20 experience? I have German ground units who fought in Poland, France, and 2 years in the Soviet Union and they have just about as much experience as new units produced by my puppets Flanders and Scandinavia. I assume one of the newer techs (Blitzkrieg?) allowed these new units to start with 20 experince but why would it only apply only to new units and when it takes so long for existing units to earn it the hard way. Was this the same in HoI2?

Standing Army also gives new units exp (I think it is standing army, the left side of the army slider for your nation)

Hi,

am I wrong or has the unit xp gain increased compared to HOI2?

BTW:

- One star gives a +10 bonus .

- Playing with VanDerGents "Austria Mod", the K&K's TAC have around 1939 already 2-3 stars. :D After joining the Axis and when "Fall Gelb" happens, my LAs have got their first one. :)

- Compared the "oh-so-regretted" leader xp "loss", I see no room for complaining. Now you have to take your choices conserning your leaders which gives quite a touch to playing. Should one take the OG-Generals or promote "better" MGs or LGs? :p

Thanks, paradox !!!!

I think units should gain experience quicker in actual combat. With full standing army setting (doctrines don't have an effect) units have 20 exp right off the assembly line, but it takes forever to gain that amount in combat. It seems logical that the "real thing" would teach a lot more than boot camp can.

I also have the impression that units gain XP faster.

As USSR, I've only been fighting since June 22nd, 1942. It's now the middle of September of the same year (less than three months later), and one complete air wing of 3 CAS + 1 Int all have three stars... 61 XP each in less than three months.
