In one of the tutorials, it says 'declare war on Magdeburg', but I can't find Magdeburg anywhere on the map. Could someone help me please?

It's right next to Brandenburg, in a pink-ish province called "Altmark". There's a "find province" button in the lower right corner (looks like an arrowkey) just click it and punch in "Altmark" and it should take you to the province.
More generally speaking, if you bring up the ledger, on the nation comparison page (the economic one, at least), you can alphabetize the list by clicking the column above country name, scroll down to the country you're looking for, and click on their flag. This will take you directly to their capital province.
