I don't think any unique troops will be in, it would be too complex. Every vassal will provide their lord an army based upon the composition in their province.

Tatars/Turks will give more horse archers/light cav, the welsh longbows, etc.

In any case, as all Dynasties are playable, there simply wouldn't be enough information as to what tiny little dynasty would have an elite unite. This is not Age of Kings.

Furthermore- As each Vassal will be run by a separate AI, I would expect the quality of troops raised, as well as composition, to be highly variable. Some will concentrate on military techs, others will concentrate upon economics, others defence etc. Maybe the Welsh dynasties will start out with some additional archer techs.

i could be wrong about this, but i think the kings set the technology levels for all their vassals, otherwise what would be the point of researching technology if it only applies to the small number of ur demense troops...

And what would be the point of researching if you are only playing a one-provincer, or even a vassal of a king?

thats a good point. still, there are probably ways for kings to influence the technology levels of their vassals, maybe u cant make them do something, but u have some control over it. historically, for example, the king of england got all the english archers to practice regularly.

Random Thought: The crusaders made some attempts to introduce a Feudal knighthood in parts of the Latin empire, didn't they? How would this be represented, by cultural shift (sounds odd to me) or by the tech of whomever is crusading passing over to the crusader state?

Did they succeed notably? Else I guess it can be overlooked.

If they did .. hmm.. maybe they researched it?

As for it being a welch speciality, it is true that the Welch had a reputation as archers, but 90% of the bowmen in 14th century english armies were not welch. They were englishmen, lowland scots and ocossionally foreign mercenaries.
